What are ice Chips? I always see that on Tv shows, the people in the hospitals want ice chips, what are they??

Little pieces of ice...They give them to you so your mouth wont get dry and cause you cant eat anything while in labor.

They're just small slivers or pieces of ice cubes. It's a way to get a small amount of ice and water into an ill person without them crunching an ice cube. And if they're laying down, water itself would spill all over even with a straw.
