I live in Calgary alberta canada and when I recieved the ticket in the mail it only shows my truck and the license there's no proof of who's driving it so technically i dont think i cant get demerits. There Could be anyone driving, the ticket gets sent to the registered owners house and he pays the fine but how do you get demerits if they cant prove your driving

If it's a moving violation - yes, you get points.

It doesn't seem fair but it will indeed turn into points against you. However, there is a lot of other tickets that seem to be a lot less of a moving violation such as a seat belt. Before long there will be cameras at most intersections. Running red lights can be very dangerous. You may can keep this ticket off your record. I posted a reference that may help.
