According to Jesus he came back 2,000 years ago. How else could they be in his church since he stated HE would build it and they needed to obey the law of moses until then? He also stated he would return before all his disciples died, so if he did not then he must have lied.

Because (from what I have figured out) is that God, (Jesus) is here with us now. When the holy Spirit came down to peter, he entered him giving him all the powers Jesus had here on Earth (if his heart was in the right place). I think too that hes come and gone a long time ago and that we are in the midst of what is the end. That is just my own interpretations and not to be taken as truth.
And the book of revelations is just a foretelling of what was going on then. If you look at history and the writings of the old testament you can figure this out as well. not really what we can say is going to happen.
so my self personally I am Christian but I don't go to church all of the time but I care for people and I will stand up for them. the biggest thing most people miss is that we are all human and in need of care and love. I think too that if Jesus were here right now he wouldn't be hanging out with the Christians and going to church every day of the week he would be living his life for others. so you can say your Christian or you can live it. that is my thought on the subject. so I think my friend you may have run into to some holy rollers and they have given you a wrong impression on what it means to be Christian. And they are the ones in need of an attitude adjustment.

Is it possible that Jesus Christ could come back to earth tonight? You hear preachers and ministers all the time saying that Jesus could come back this very evening, or that Jesus could return to earth tomorrow morning.
The answer to the question of whether it is possible that Jesus could come back today or tomorrow is a definite no. In fact I will go a little further and say that Jesus cannot possibly come back at the end of this week or the end of this month or even the end of this year. He won't even come back 2 or 3 years from now. Nor will our Lord even be here five years from today. He won't even be here in the next 6 to 7 years.
It tells us in the Book of Revelation that Jesus doesn't come back untill the tribulation is completely over and the seventh or last trumpet is sounded. It is when this final trumpet is blown that the 7 year tribulation period is over and it is only then that Jesus Christ comes back for his Saints and begins his rule over this earthly kingdom. And please keep in mind that the tribulation period consists of the last 7 years of human history as we know it. Look at the following verses and ask yourself when does Jesus come back?
Matthew 24:29-30 "But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken, and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory".

Study the History of the Jewish wedding done around the time that Jesus walked the earth and you will have your answer as to why we cannot tell you when He is coming back.
It's a beautiful story and makes complete sense.
Hint: the son builds on to the Fathers house, and the son can't go and get His bride until the Father says the house is ready.
So you see, it's really not up to the Son, It's all the Father decision.
As far as Christians hating, your sadly are far too correct. I am a Christian and am sad to see that Christians in America for the most part are a bunch of judgmental fanatics that show little love.
Yes, to every brother and sister in Christ who reads this, this is a rebuke.

God keeps tons of secrets from us. Tell me the formula God used to make Penguins? Tons of things are NOT known in the field of medical research. If we did there would be no need for present research. Do you know the cure for Huntington's Disease? Doctors don't.
God only hates those who hate him and disobey Him.
Read the Bible.

I don't agree with your generalization of what Christians know, or what you think they know. Jesus gave us signs of the times to look for, and the message is to "Watch" and pray, be ready. Only the Father in heaven knows when Christ will return. It doesn't worry me when, I just want it to be soon.
Why is that? Well if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for Jesus is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Watch!

Because Jesus Christ did not even know the answer to that question either. Only the Father who was in heaven. What I just told you is a riddle since it is true that Jesus Christ was God the Father in the flesh. How can God who is flesh not know the mind of an eternal God in the future if they are both one in the same.
This question is easily answered when Christians realize that Jesus Christ's whole mini sty and life was to show Christians that as human beings we are truly trust in God the Father for all the answers, both today and for the future. Jesus Christ was an example for us human beings for all things.
Back to your question then. The answer is God alone has that time set for His purpose and His will and it was a plan set forth even before this universe and everything in it was created. Christians are to live their lives for God's glory and to leave all our plans and purposes to revolve around Him. This includes even our future plans.

Well , that is not exactly true, when I was 15 years old they used to tell me that I had a few more years to convert before Jesus would come back, and they kept saying that since.
they used to say to me Jesus would have come in the 2000, now the he did not show up in the 2000 they think it will be in 2012. I have heard many dates.
They never stop coming up with new dates.

If they knew, they would have taken over the world by now. I am surprised that this story has gone so far. It's funny, you keep committing sin and all you need to do is repent and on judgment day, you are hoping that you will be forgiven.
Whoever thought of this .....was genius. I would have thought it would fail to capture people into religion, but it worked.
The most funny thing I see when people die. They are spending so much money by preserving the body. Why? It's not like your actual physical body will get up. It's the soul.
That's again if there is a judgment day.

Because we are not God. And if you are saved and ready, it doesn't matter anyway....once we die, we won't know we are dead and when we wake up, it will just seem like a few moments passed by while we slept...and we will wake up to meet our Savior in the air and be with him forever...So, why should I care when he comes?. I hope we have more time because the longer he tarries the more people will be saved...some of husbands family, for instance...

Jesus gave us a clue in matthew 24... but you have to understand the hebrew symbolism.....this chapter, along with the prophesies of Ezechiel, zechariah, jeremiah, daniel and isaiah, which Jesus knew the apostles were aware of......was enough information to let them know.....
israel first had to be scattered over all the earth..as a punishment for sin and rejection of messiah
they would mainly go to the land of the north ( russia) and migrate to other places later from there
in the last days, god would bring the jews back to their homeland...this occured in 1948 as the naiton would tbe "born in one day"
the remnant would continue to flow in for 70 years....1948+70=2018
terrorism would increase, and violence would cover the earth-interestingly - the hebrew word for violence is HAMAS
there would be wars and rumors of wars
there would be earth changes- signs in the stars and on the earth.....meteors? global warming? crop circles?
christians would be persecuted - this happens in many muslim and communist countries even now..they would also be persecuted by those who thought they were doing god a favor ( like the muslims)....
the unification of europe as the revived roman empire would occur- this is now the european union
the eastern muslim countries ( ancient territories of greek and roman rule) would unite with europe and come against Israel....this is already happening at the united nations......
the rise of the anti-christ will come from when it now a muslim country...and will represent a kingdom, not a democracy.....
there will be an attack against Israel from the north- syria, persia, lebanon, turkey and russia will be involved...they will be defeated...this victory will cause the rest of the jews to flood home in anticipation of the messiah coming..
there will be one more attack after this...the battle of armageddon.....eastern countries will attack Israel again.....this could happen at any time now because of the threat from Iran.....
Jesus returns from heaven with the saints to the Mount of Olives and stops the war.....he is there to save the nation of Israel.......the enemies of Israel are destroyed
Jesus said that the nation born after the rebirth of Israel woudl not pass away until all this has occured.....so any one born after 1948 is this final generation.
