Some kind of cold & flu medicine would probably work good. I like the ones with the daytime & nighttime formulas, like Tylenol cold & flu with the yellow pills for daytime and blue (or green) for nighttime. However, keep an eye on your symptoms and if they persist, see a doctor. You could have mono. So don't share anything with your friend!

Hi there.
Well from your symptoms, there are 2 possibilities. First, is you are having a viral infection. The fever with the sore body points to that.
Another is you might have a bacterial infection of your throat or the sinus. In sinus infections, sinusitis, it aches when you press on either side of the nose or over the nose bone itself.
If its about the throat, the pharyngitis as it is called, you would have a dry mouth, and very red looking throat. But, for that you must know the normal color of the throat first.
Anyways, you should take any anti-histaminic like, cetrizine, along with the Advil. I am afraid if you have sinusitis or pharyngitis, you would have to take some antibiotics too. Viral fever should subside on its own.
If you must go to friends, I advise you to not eat or drink anything that is below room temperature - chilled or cold drinks- and any oily food. These things makes your throat an ideal spot for breeding of bacterias.
Keep some drugs handy with you. If you feel dizzy while you get up from sitting or sleeping position, you should really rest.
Best luck for the trip. I hope you are right by tomorrow!!

Try mixed connective tissue disease. As a matter of fact, many of the rheumatologic diseases average two years from the first doctor's visit to the time when a firm diagnosis can be made. If you really want the world to bow down to you, come up with an algorithm for diagnosing pulmonary embolus that doesn't have us radiating the heck out of half the population but doesn't miss many important clots. There's a Mount Everest of papers on the subject, and we still suck at it, missing too many diagnoses and doing way too many imaging studies on people who don't have clots. But that project is only for a masochist.

It's strep throat, you have to go to the doctor and get a antibiotic for it, strep is severely contageous and if you let it go for a really long time you can find yourself in the hospital getting IV antibiotics because you waited for so long. You can't recover with out an antibiotic, you have to tell your parents, i'm sorry, but you do. You can die from strep throat if you let it go for too long, so take advantage of the miracle of antibiotics today and go to the doctor!!
Oh and it's not the flu, flu and strep are very similar, but flu normally has a lower temperature. If your fever gets above 104 F that's when you need to go to the ER. So just do everyone a favor and before it spreads and infects everything else in your body GO!!!

1) Water. Drink it now until you feel like it's coming out your nose. Then,
2) Hot and cold shower: 3 min. hot as you can stand it, 2 min. cold, (suddenly and totally cold -- count 120 seconds, feel free to dance around and sing), then back to hot (it will tingle, too -- notice the spot on the handle so you don't burn yourself), then back to cold, because you're going to be up for awhile (you'd add a hot cycle at the end if you were going to jump under the covers and snuggle in for the night).
3) Now (you'll fee Grrreat at this point) for the throat: make some hot tea. Squeeze lemon juice into hot water, if you've got the ingredients, and then add honey to it. (The honey will soothe your throat.) If there's any garlic around, eat a couple of cloves. That will kill the germs.(The lemon will keep you from smelling bad.)
4) Keep a warm towel or scarf around your throat for the rest of the evening.
5) Repeat any / all of this other stuff and you'll be surprised, I trust!

Well its seems like this season there has been a quite a bit of Strep throat and Mono. Both of these have about the same symptoms. I would definitely go to the doctor or ER since you don't want to spread whatever you have to your friends. I know you wanna enjoy time with your friends but I am sure you wanna be responsible too.

Go out and get some Zinc lozenges and put two in your mouth and 'suck them gone right away. After that suck on one zinc lozenge an hour ... and don't 'wake up' to suck them, but do take them tomorrow and do one every hour as long as you are awake. My doctor told me this trick and it really does WORK ... you get 'better' much faster, and you aren't NEARLY AS SICK even while taking them. DO NOT USE THIS MUCH ZINC FOR MORE THAN A WEEK though, without seeing a doctor. What you have is the 'common summer cold.' They are 'nasty buggers' and seem to last FOREVER ... but you should feel 'totally well' in three days or less, and you WILL feel well enough to 'go up to the city' tomorrow if you start taking them right away.

You don't want to mess with Strep, plus if you get a shot of antibiotic, chances are, in 24 hours you will feel much better and not be contagious. You sound quite strep like to me. Go get a swab (throat culture) then you'll know in 10 minutes.
