How long does it take for a tan to show after sunbathing?

I could be completely wrong here, but I heard that a tan doesn't show up right away after tanning in the sun that it takes some time after. Does anyone know how much time after sun tanning does it take for the tan to show up?

You're right. It isn't immediate. It all depends on your skin type and how much melanin your body produces.
