The Catholic Church believes that tattoos in and of themselves are not immoral in any way. Leviticus 19:28 states "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord," but this is generally regarded as ritualistic law used to differentiate the Israelites from their neighbors rather than as an unchanging moral law. However, in certain circumstances, getting a tattoo can be immoral. This would be if 1) it poses a significant danger to your health; 2) it is meant to be offensive; 3) it has a message that comes in conflict with love of God or neighbor; 4) it is gotten as a means of spiting others; or 5) its expense takes away from your ability to aid those in need. From your description, a tattoo such as one of the ones you describe would be perfectly acceptable under Catholic doctrine.

I can find no Catholic teaching against tattoos.
However a point to ponder:
You are a masterpiece work of art, created in the image and likeness of the artist, God.
Would you go up to Leonardo Da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" and try to "improve" it by adding your own touches here and there?
With love in Christ.

I'm Catholic and to the best of my knowledge I don't remember them saying anything about being against tattoos. Personally I feel its my body and don't see why the church would have a say in it.

Um, I think as long as they don't get excessive. Personally, I don't like tattoos. But if I had to get one, I'd have a small one. Three small ones at the most, and not anywhere that's exposed.

if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men. James 1:5 . I see alot of questions about the Bible on here and alot of people listen to pastors preach. But really your relationship is suppose to be with God. So ask of Him and him alone. Asking of man is Idolitory. That's why Jesus said they were going to heap teachers to themselves. The Bible says not to lean on your own understanding. So why would you lean on another's understanding? Ask of God.
