So i bought my computer chair for $1900, and this brother came over, sat on it and broke it. He didnt even had the decency to tell me about it and when i found out he told me to crazy glue it up and didnt even apologise. Now i am tempted to give him a pice of my mind but my better judgement and the Christian in me is telling me to be calm. This money took a lot of sacrifices people and i am really hurt. To further add to my injury, some of my friends were here and they found it to be funny. I dont, in fact i am so upset about it. Please give me some encouraging words as i dont have any around me to offer such just now. Thanks

He is a very fat person thats why the cahir failed. I am a very small person so this chair was appropraite for me. Moreover there were plenty other chairs for him to sit only he chose the smallest.

In my country, 1900 is 600 less than minimum wage so its not that bad to pay for a chair.

Ohhh, I know that feeling. Not very long ago, I spent my entire afternoon shampooing the carpet in my room untill it went back to perfectly white. A few hours later, my dad comes in with muddy shoes and walks all the way across my room, leaving big muddy footprints! I was SO mad. I know God didn't want me to blow up, but I did anyway. It did absolutely NO good. Don't make the same mistake I did!
I would sit him down, and talk to him. Tell him about how much it hurt you. If that doesn't work, just pray he changes.
Hope this helps!
God Bless.

Teasergirl.... sorry hun... but I just can't imagine anyone WANTING to "sacrifice" for a $1900 desk chair...lol...mine cost $15 used and has lasted throughout the last year with 5 different adults and 7 different grandchildren all wanting to be sitting/swiveling/playing on and around it :) LOL like others said before me...my car doesn't even blue book at that amount.
Still... the price of the chair doesn't matter...
Call the manufacturer or store...if you still have the receipt you may be able to get it fixed or replaced...
Relationships are trickier... and mean more then chairs do, hun. People make mistakes...and, if the brother is large as you say, he may be feeling pretty embarrassed and covering up by making a flippant remark. Sometimes it's easier to cover up how you really feel by saying such remarks when you have an audience...
Hope all goes better for you.
Peace be with you :)

Well if he is a brother in the Lord then he injured a sister in the Lord and that is not good. He is thoughtless and I'm almost tempted to say he did it on purpose to spite you. His problem is he injured not just you but a lot of the other people that helped you to buy that chair.
I don't know how you can get him to repay you. If he has a parent perhaps you can tell them about that. If you are both adults then he should pay you back somehow.
It's okay to give him a piece of your mind. Jesus did that to religious hypocrites and he indeed acted like one. But don't try not to say anything you will regret later.
In the future I would boycott any future meals in his honor with the brother since he sounds like he can do without a few of them.

Your brother owes you the money that it would take to repair or replace it,but it sounds as if he's not going to pay up.
Can you sit down and have a serious talk with him about it? By all means, keep your cool, but tell him how hard you worked to save for it and how important it was to you.
If he won't pay, then don't give him a piece of your mind. It won't do any good. However, you certainly don't ever have to trust him again. If he comes over again, don't let him sit in the chair. He'll complain that you haven't forgiven him. You can come right back and say, "You're not sorry for what you did."
If he has no remorse over damaging a $1,900.00 chair, then he'll have no remorse if he causes even more damage.

You need to explain to him that this is not just a cheap chair you picked up at Walmart. Tell him how much it cost and the sacrifices you had to give in order to afford the chair.
He needs to be responsible for his actions. He should have been honest with you and told you he broke it. Help him learn these lessons. Christ taught many lessons (all without "giving a piece of his mind"). Its a learning experience.
You have every right to be upset/mad about it. I would too! You need to tell him that he needs to pay to get it fixed (which would be cheaper) or replace it.

$1900...whoa...for a computer chair. Well, Doug Llewellyn always said, don't take the law into your own hands, you take them to court...the peoples court. It's obvious that he should pay for the repair or replacement of the chair. There is nothing un-christian about expecting him to be responsible for damages. If he doesn't want to work with you, haul him into small claims court.

breathe and remember it's just a chair. even tho you sacrificed and worked hard for it, it is only a chair.
make an appointment with your pastor and talk it over. maybe your pastor will meet with you and the bro in question and will work out a deal for you.
just because you are a Christian and the guy who did the damage is a Christian does not mean you should not hold him accountable. he should be man enough to be accountable.
as for the others - leave them out of it totally. say nothing. it is between you and the bro - that's it. if anyone talks, be sure it isn't you. if he blabs about it, then he will be showing his immaturity.
hope that helps a bit.

If you paid $1900 for a computer chair that broke when someone sat in it...the joke's on you. Normal people spend a couple hundred at Staples.

Take him to small claims court and make him pay for a new one. What an idiot, what a rude, brain-dead excuse for a human being. And I'd say the same for the friends of yours who found it to be funny - what kind of stupidity is that?!
That's WAY too much money to just ignore, and he didn't have the right to do that.
Seriously, take his ignorant butt to small claims court asap, since he isn't going to be a stand-up type of guy. You have the right to get paid for the damages this idiot did.
