I prayed kneeling by my bed with my eyes shut and my hands folded...out loud....with my mother nearby. I prayed for all my family, pets, school...and whatever was happening at the time.

Now I pray silently after I'm in bed, eyes shut...try not to fall asleep before I'm done....for all my family, friends, whatever's happening at the time....and for Jesus to come soon.

Well when I was little, I didn't really understand God. I thought he was like Santa... like if I pray for something (like a barbie house or something) I would get it.

Now, I pray for people who are sick, are going through a hard time, or people who don't know God yet. I also pray to thank God for everything I have. We Americans can take our things for granted, WAY to easily.

I laughed when I read "try not to fall asleep before I'm done," I had the same problem! Now I just pray with the light on, then turn it off when I'm done, so I don't fall asleep. LOL

I pray while I am in bed before I fall asleep. I used to pray kneeling down by my bed, hands folded and closed my eyes. As an adult, I pray in my heart all the time during the day. I may not literally say 'Dear God' But, I do in my heart when I need help always ask for it. I am new coaching soccor and noticing that I do ask for his guidance to help me teach the kids and use kind words and be the good coach these kids need to play good. And it does work and I do notice that the kids are getting the ideas better. Makes me happy! I am proud of them :)

i never prayed as a child. i'm fairly new to christianity, but...

i give thanks more than anything. i thank God that whatever will happen to me will be for the best, among lots of other things. i start as soon as i wake up, before i even roll out of bed, with a 3 or 4 minute prayer of thanksgiving, and ask for guidance for that day. i pray off and on throughout the day- i never really stop for any more than an hour or two. i pray before i go to sleep, whether i'm lying down, sitting, standing, kneeling, whatever. i sometimes pray silently (especially when saying grace on my lunch break at work), but i find that it doesn't feel the same as praying out loud. i usually make a lot more requests for other people than i do for myself. i pray not that they escape whatever situation they might be in, but that they be made strong by that situation. i don't pray that i'll be made strong, but i give thanks that i already am (see 2 timothy 1:7), and let that strength manifest itself.

As a child I rattled off a bunch of words from memorized prayers. Today I put feeling and thought into it and focus on the words. Now I ask for nothing more than the courage and strength to accept His will whatever that may be. For others, I pray that He will give them the same gift of faith He has given me.

I prayed in a prayer room with my mom. I just recited what what she was reciting without understanding anything. We used to shut our eyes too and prayed for everything and everyone we knew.

Now I do not pray anymore. I realized that prayer is useless. God is a fiction and instead of praying, it is better to spend that energy understanding things like why people pray, why people have blind faith, why supposedly educated people continue to believe in god and religion. I find the psychology of religion more interesting than the actual practise of it.

I used to get on my knees beside the bed, but my knees ain't in such great shape now so I sit in my rocking chair, read my Bible, pray and look out the window.

As a child, I prayed to my Father, now I pray to my Friend. He is still my Father in moments of crises of course, but now it's more mature dialogue, instead of "I need" and "I want".

As a child, i didn't pray much. I said some funny little prayers, about protecting my family and so on. i find it very difficult to pray loudly. Even now, my prayers are in my room, with the doors closed.

Praying, wishing, hoping, doing nothing, all get the same results. Believe it. It is a statistical fact. If you don't think so, prove otherwise.

i prayed for childish concerns like getting a toy, escaping punishment, happiness for my family and friends.

now i pray for the concerns of others, for character in myself, for the sake of the world sometimes...

my prayer life went from a single home to global concerns...
