Because the Bible is too long a book. No child reads a book of any length in school; they simply copy brief summaries, found on the Internet, to pass exam questions.
Why does someone, innocent or guilty of a crime, in jail need to read the Bible; any more than an ordinary drunk needs to, while he lives in freedom in this great republic? Perhaps our legislators should be forced to read the Constitution every morning; but do we really expect that would open their eyes to their duty?

beacuse in every school there are alot of kids who dont believe in the same religion.
I mean,if you were to send a muslim child to read a christan bible, the outcomes are rarly good.
The children would be talking about 2 diffrent religions, and would grow up confused.
Anyways, most parents dont want religion to effect there children beacuse when they grow up (and dont believe in the same relgion as other children do) they could be teased or picked on.
The best thing if if you want your child to learn about religion, send them to a church school that has there own religin. I'm sure they will talk about the Bible there.

Children can read the Bible in school. The school just can't force them to. Neither can the prison. Also, children usually are sent to juvenile detention centers before they go to prison.

Children can read the bible in their free time in public schools, and prisoners can read the bible in their free time in prison.
Teachers are not allowed to force children in public schools to study a certain religion any more than prison guards are allowed to force prisoners to study a certain religion.

I don't know that jews have ever taken an interest in that. if they did,we'd have a Supreme Court fiat ruling that it's a violation of separation of church and state to read a Bible in prison. I suppose if it had anything to do with their interests, they would make an issue out of it. After their usual fashion. Judicial fiat, entirely by-passing the legislative process,in other words,self-determination. Straight to the Supreme Court, which obviously reminds them of Biblical accounts of the Sanhedrin.

kids can read the Bible at school. that is crazy wrong. as long as junior isn't reading the Bible during a class lecture or reading the Bible instead of completing his or her assignments, who would care?
as a tax payer, i think if a kid is reading a Bible during a class, he or she should be asked to put the Bible away and focus on the lesson.
is that really too much to ask?

Because a prison climate is very suitable given the Bible's contents.

Children ARE allowed to read the bible in school. Just not during class!
Just because they're not required to read it, does not mean they're not allowed.

Angelheart,
It is like putting the cart before the horse! It would be great if Christian parents could put their newborns in a hospital nursery where the Gospel is heard over the sound system....if that choice was available.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
