Yes, but if JGR chooses to go to Toyota.....(cross our fingers they don't,) then JGR will be back at the bottom of the food chain.

Hendrick should be strong next year with there top 2 drivers (Gordon and Johnston) the 3-4 drivers Dale Jr. and Casey Mears only have one win a piece over the last two seasons. Hendricks big lose is the engine contracts that they had with Ginn going to RCR-DEI.
Gibbs if he goes to Toyota might start slow but the three teams are in the top 35 so they will get the first five races to improve, Hamlin and Busch have the talent to make an average car great. Smoke (assuming he doesn't demand a release over the switch from Chevy) has proven he can drive anything at an elite level doesn't really step it up till after the first month or so. That and nothing inspires (pisses off) Tony like a bad few races.
Either way fortunes can change quick in "Sprint" Cup, Roush Fenway had five drivers in the Chase two years ago and GEM had 6 wins from Kahne last year. Both of those teams could rebound in a big way.
RCR currently has all three teams in the 07 chase with wins from two of those teams and a new engine deal with DEI (and the former Ginn cars) and possibley Hall of Fame Racing.
Next year any of those five teams could step up and provide the team to beat, mostly it going to be the team that has the best feel for the COT as it goes to the mile and have tracks.

Very likely yes, they are probably the top 2 as we speak, but it may cycle around a bit, I don't think Hendrick can pull off such a dominating start on everyone else again.
Even if Joe Gibbs Racing goes to Toyota, that won't mean that they will be horrible like the current Toyota teams, remember that the Toyota teams right now are either new teams, or they're bad teams.
We don't know how well a great team like JGR will do if it switches to Toyota, but I think they would end up fielding the 3 best Toyotas by a wide margin.
If JGR stays with Chevy: all 3 cars in the Chase
If JGR moves to Toyota: very unclear, but all 3 cars can probably get in the top 25 very easily, and Toyota will probably get better, they won't be slow for too long.

I think Gibbs is still up in the air heres why:
1. If they do go Toyota they will be largely worse off next year, of course they will eventually work out the kinks and return to form, it just might take awhile.
2. I foresee a big personality conflict between Tony and Kyle, I just can't see two teammates with such intense personalities getting along. Plus there already has been some drama between Tony and Denny.
Hendrick should be great next year again especially with the switch to the COT full time and (hopefully) no crew chief suspensions.

I think it takes a lot more than having great drivers on a team to make that team good. They need to be able to be good teammates and communicate with one another. I see a problem with JGR, Stewart and Hamlin can't even get along and i don't see Kyle Busch making it any better! I still think that HMS and RCR will be the 2 top teams in Nascar!

Hendrick Motor Sports and JGR are this year, and in my opinion will continue to be a major factor in NASCAR next year. They have been 2 of the most competitive teams over the past few years. With this year so far going to HMS. Excellent drivers, and personnel all around, coupled with the addition of new drivers to both organizations will no doubt guarantee their continued excellence at the top of the NASCAR food chain...... I'm a huge JGR fan, and i've heard the rumors of them going to toyota, but nothing has been publisized as of yet....... I can't really see that happening, looking at the success of the team with chevy.......

Yes. Definitely. Now if Gibbs goes to Toyota then they wont be as strong because the Toyota teams arent doing so well. So I think that will be definitely something to consider, but they will have some good drivers on their team definitely. Now as for Busch, I dont think that he will be at Gibbs long, personally, if he even signs a contract with them. Him and Tony are to much alike.

im late to the party but i only half agree with the question JGR's transition to Toyota next year and the addition of Kyle Busch will keep the team out of Victory Lane, but if the Toyota thing doesnt pan out then yes JGR will be a top dog
as far as HMS goes if you dont already pick them on Fantasy for plate races you might wanna start..youve got two of the best (it pains me to admit this) plate racers on one team

You must mean DEI instead of Joe Gibbs....
DEI merged with Ginn with larger warehouse and better equipment.
DEI added veteran Mark Martin to help with driver development for the future and to help mentor the current stable of drivers
DEI and RCR merged engine departments.
DEI also is one of the few teams to have a COT win already.
If Gibbs goes to Toyota, then they're out for a year or two...
If Gibbs stays Chevy, then you need to make it top 3 teams.

If Gibbs stays with Chevy, yes. If not, they will get Toyota sorted out by the middle of the season and then the fun can start.
