Why is that everything has to have a purpose? Why is it that everything has to have an answer that satisfies the human mind?
My purpose for living is I was born. Since the day I was conceived I was thrown into this thing called life. Instinctively the primarily objective of living organisms is to survive. The meaning that I find in life is in the relationships I share with the loved ones around me. Not to mention the fact I generally like people. I`am interested in the arts, sciences, and marvel at the human mind. Does that satisfy your question. If not does that mean I don`t have a purpose? Just to let you in on a little tid bit of information this thing we call the Universe and Life on Earth was around long before we step foot on this planet. What`s the purpose of that? Perhaps we are apart of the Universe. We are apart of mother nature. We are apart of the ALL. I can`t find any more purpose than that, as a matter of fact I`m honored to be apart of such a thing and The ALL has truly blessed me with a mind to realize this.

I can only assume that people who can't figure it out must have some serious mental problems that therapy might help. They appear to have little or no self esteem and a lack of social skills not to mention the most basic of human abilities to seek out knowledge and improve both their own and in some small way the human races' overall wellbeing.
If they had them, they would be living a happy, fun-filled life enjoying time with their family and friends, working at a career that satisfies them both intellectually and financially and generally enjoying living on this planet.

I know what it isn't for worshiping someone or something based on word of mouth and a book. I would like to find out as I go along in life or have an experience of something and feel joy doing it before declaring my purpose of living.

I don't see what being atheist has to do with recognizing that the question for a purpose of everything is fallacious. Are you familiar with Bokononism? From the first book of Bokonon:
All of the true things I am about to tell you are shameless lies.
In the beginning, God created earth, and he looked upon it in His cosmic loneliness.
And God said, "Let Us make living creatures out of mud, so the mud can see what We have done." And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close as mud as man sat up, looked around, and spoke. Man blinked. "What is the purpose of all this?" he asked politely.
"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God.
"Certainly," said man.
"Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God. And He went away.

survive long enough to procreate
same as every other animal on the planet
However because we are self aware we can decide what we want our purpose to be
what is the purpose with a god? spend you short life in worship and then ifyou're really lucky spend eternity worshipping it some more? yeah *thats* worthwhile

The purpose of living is personal and individual to the person you are asking. You have to make your own purposes and not wait for anyone to supposedly give you one.
And we are here because we have found ways to adapt to our environments and survive long enough to reproduce. Why we are here is also personal as everyone will give you their own interpretation for that.

Jenn

weird how we live by other peoples "purpose"
why cant i choose my own purpose, and not live by the standards created by those before me.
what if i dont wish to go to school and learn all that bs that they are shoving in to the void of my mind?
what if its my desire, to desire nothing? thats what would make me happy, but can i do that? nope.
so then lets let some one else choose what makes me happy

It sure isn't because I can't wait to die to live a fantasy. It's about LIFE! Love, children, learning, curiosity, friends, good food, fun, travel, hobbies, creativity, and helping people. I've answered this question so many times. I used to be a Christian, but I never met Christians like the people who ask this question. What is your life all about? Honestly....

Because it's life. We dont get the choice of coming into this world but when we do we have to make do with it. We make relationships, have fun, accomplish tasks, have kids. Is the only reason you Christians are even here is to worship your god and pray for armaggedon. I dont see you all in your church's 24/7.
