I am 25 years old, I used to have quite thick hair, but the last 6 months it has been steadily getting a little thinner. When I wash my hair or brush it excessive amounts of hair is coming out. Not huge clumps to be noticed but enough. What could be causing this?

I am over weight (not obese), my hair does go greasy often (I wash it every day), I am also getting a lot of greys....any explanations?

Well it's only natural to loose or get thinner hair as you age, but this could also be a sign of poor nutrition. Maybe change the quantity and quality of food you eat. If it's worrying you that much consulting your doctor would be the best option. I hope this helps and good luck!

I have oily hair also- and am getting my share of greys too (which I SHOULD- because I'm more than twice your age). Try washing your hair every OTHER day to reduce the stress on it, -and see if you can squeeze some more vegetables into your diet. Stress, diet, & warmth (like the current hot spell) are the biggest contributers to hair loss- outside of outright illness.

Besides vitamins, zinc and saw palmetto are few other foodstuff that should be consumed for better vitality and growth of your hair. Zinc not only improves the growth of your hair but also improves the health of your scalp. There have been cases where intake of zinc has also prevented graying of hair.

An adequate diet is a must not only to improve the health of your hair, but also to improve the overall condition of your body.

Do a blood test and check your hormones.. Hormones play a very important role in losing hair.. Besides, being overweight does not have anything to do with your hair loss. Rather, it is whether what you eat is nutritious enough or not...
Eat more green vegetables like cucumbers and salads

you are probably stressed. maybe something has happened in the last few months (like work or personal issues) that has been bothering you. You might just have to make some time to relax.

Ask your doctor. A diet change good help, wash and brush your hair less. but I think its probably normal, just the aging prosess. sorry but it happens.

You might just need a hair cut. When your hair gets split ends it gets broken and falls out easier.
