If you have not tried Flonase, I highly recommend it. I'm allergic to everything but the kitchen sink (and maybe that too), but after a couple of weeks on Flonase, it was almost as though my allergies had disappeared. It's prescription-only medication, but most doctors won't have a problem with you trying it, as it's not remotely narcotic or anything like that.

I understand completely about your cats - I have two, and there's no way I'm giving them up!

People can develop allergies to familiar things, so you could be. Be aware that pet allergies are unique for each animal-some cats will cause a stronger reaction than others, and exposure will reduce the severity of the reaction. If you actually have developed a cat allergy you'll have a milder reaction to your own cat than just about any other, and that reaction should decrease over time. It'll never go away entirely unless the allergy does, but over the counter medications should take care of your symptoms.

btw-I hope you think it as funny as I do that Harry Potter fan drinks pee and rubs poop in his/her nose.

It is possible that you are allergic to your cat if you notice common symptoms like itchy skin, watery eyes, sneezing, etc. You may not have noticed them before or attribute them to your cat. That is why you can take as long as 7 years to realize it. But all the time, you may be having low grade symptoms until now.

If you are thinking whether to give your cat away or not, read this article that can possibly help you with your decision

Of course you are allergic to your cat ... she's probably a 'major cause' of your allergy to cats.
Okay, settle down, you DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE HER AWAY! It's not 'her' that you are allergic to, or even her hair ... it's the 'dander' that comes off her skin. Take your kitty to a good 'pet groomer' and get her a 'bath and combing' and TELL THEM that you are allergic ... most have a 'special shampoo' that 'inhibits' the formation of that dander you are allergic to.

You possibly could be..Your not allergic to the hair..its the dander flakes that comes off their skin that people are allergic too. Try keeping your cat groomed on a regular basis to help releave your symptoms

It could be possible, try Allegra it helped for me. Next option is Nasonex. Don't get rid of the kitty.

You could just go rub your face into her fur realllllly good. Then breath in deeply, and come back here and tell us if it was it. Or you can go to the doc and get yourself tested the more humane way.

Also if its a outside cat, then the cat may be running through something your alergic to and bringing it back with them?

probably not....it could just be summer allergies. spoken by a cat-allergic person, you tend 2 build up an ammunity to your cats after having htem for awhile

It is possible, but odd.

There are immune system boosters and natural anti-histamines such as honey.

I would hate to think you have to get rid of the cat you have had for 7 years.

yes it is possible. sorry to tell you this but if I'm right you may have to give up your cat depending what the allergies are like.
