My lhasa apso's feces were nomal. Then suddenly one day, my dog poops yellow, very soft feces. Occasionally liquidy-ish. Then these few days, my dog poops yellow hard poops. We haven't given him anything unusal food that we don't usually give him. We give Canidae dry food. Just yesterday we gave him a cooked bone(really big one so he won't choke). Any reason why the unusal feces?

Often yellow faeces can be a sign of liver problems (in humans anyway - think hepatitis). Is your dog healthy otherwise? I would chat to your vet about this one ... You said that the bone was yesterday but the faeces had been harder for a while so I don't think the bone was the cause.

The cooked bone is very concerning though - never feed cooked bones. And the large size is more likely to cause tooth damage than a smaller one would cause choking. Dogs need a supply of raw meaty bones to ensure the health of their teeth and gums. For a dog the size of yours chicken frames (what is left after the fillets are taken off) and drumsticks would be a good starting point. I am assuming that your dog is a bit of a gulper given your choking concerns. If not then try chicken or turkey necks or wings.

The site below is a really good starting point for ideas on what bones to feed.

I'm not sure about the soft poop, but the yellow hard poop is from chewing on the bone and is mostly bone matter. It's not a problem...:)

Youu might find that giving him a large raw bone would be better for him and you wouldn't have to worry about splinters (and you 'll still get the same type of poop but it will be white and hard).

I just love conversations about fecal matter...:)

Well, my dog pukes up yellow foamy stuff too, but does yours do it on a daily bases? If so, talk to a vet.
