Some teenage "born-again" Christian keeps throwing religion in my face and I want to know if she's a hypocrite for getting one.

Of Course!! The Bible clearly states that "though shalt not pierce thy flesh with small metallic decorations". I think it's like the 34th commandment or something.

Hmm... I know it is said that you should treat your body like a temple, instrument for divine purpose. But how should one define that in a current state of times.

Is piercing a deformation or glorification?
If deformation, how is it any different from an ear piercing?
In olden days, the earring was the mark of the slaves. How can the children of God have a marking of the slaves?
Should you be allowed to drink or smoke?

These are indeed hard questions to answer.

Here's my take on this.

No nose piercing until if or when it becomes as accepted as a norm in a society by most people. Not because it offends some ladies at church. They should be understanding but even if they don't that's not that important. They are saved and opinion of their dislike will not interfere with their passage to heaven. I hope.

Reason I think you shouldn't is because you don't want anything, especially a small metal going through your nostrils, to put the non-believers off from getting to hear the Gospel.

No Drinking or smoking, especially in front of non-believers.

I know a lot of people will say that's a hypocrisy. Fine! Better to be hypocrite that brought other non-believers to the path of God than a self-righteous man who only became a barrier between God and non-believers.

I am not saying you can just live your life as you see fit. As a born again Christian, you should eventually change all your flaws and sins within your control.

But You may not have the dedication or strength to lose all of your flaws and sins right away. In such case, you should at least try to be seen as an example of "believer" to other non-believers.

That's my take.

Depends on the denomination. But i see nothing wrong with it.

In general though the born again christians tend to have problems with anything deemed worldly. They feel they must be apart from the non christians, that you should just look at them and know them different. So i find it kind f strange she would get one.

Does this mean that you have turned down the invitation to being a king in the kingdom of God? You do have a right to do so..and have done so from what you say..Nose rings are not hypocritical because God sees if you have the Holy Spirit abidding in you or not and this is what matters MOST to Him..So she stands true with her Father in heaven...

First of all, I'm sorry you feel you're being harrassed about Christianity. I couldn't say whether or not she should get a piercing, it's not my nose.

If you are uncomfortable with the way she is talking to you, say something about it....nicely. No need to search for a rock to throw back in her direction.

The Old Testament prohibits tattoo's and piercings as God was trying to get us away from "Egyptian" traditions. Jewish ppl still follow this.

However, technically, the New Testatment 'allows' this in Acts along with un-circumcision & eatting ham. Kinda like God grounded us from Mosses to St. Peter. Since Jesus was like graduation ... we can do it ... it may or may not be best for us ... but it's not "prohibited" specifically like Deut says.

I consider myself a Christian.I have my nose peirced,....and my bb,and my tongue, and my cartilage. And plan on getting a few more tats.'_' It not whats on the outside that matters friend. Its whats on the inside.Thats what God looks at.The heart.I also like the gothic culture somewhat.I used to be told a Christian isn't supposed to 'hurt' the body.To me it is art, self expression.I was also told rebellion was a sign of satan.I .....don't go to that church any more.
I hope that helped.Alot of people like telling what to do.How to think. Its something you and God have to decide.
Peace and creativity be with you.Don't be afraid to be different.'_'

I think (and I'm not a religious expert) the body is believed to be loaned from God in God-Believing religions. Therefore since it is a borrowed item for our time on earth, one would think that any kind of harmful subjections should be wrong in the eyes of God. Tatoos, piercings, tobacco, alcohol, drugs.... Anything that does the body bad, must be a no-no in God's eyes...

It's not 'wrong' in any specific Christian sense; but they're pretty ugly no matter who gets them. (The Old Testament does prohibit decorative piercings, but Christianity does not observe that restriction.)

Her nose piercing has nothing to do with her faith in God, or Christianity. God looks on the heart WE look at the outside.
