Planning usually starts about a year in advance so you have plenty of time to organize, book places/people you want, get things together. Start by looking at wedding websites for tips, ideas, pictures, and organizers. I've been using www.theknot.com - they've got all kinds of types of helpful stuff including a monthly break down of "to-dos" based on your wedding date. They also have a budgeting tool (no one can tell you your budget - you need to sit down with your fiance and figure out what you can afford to put towards this) as well as forums and articles and things. I've found it really helpful for planning and getting ideas.

Well some major things to plan for are food(add in some african dishes), Music(have african songs), cake, flowers, location, dress, tux, people, seating, it sounds like a lot but it kinda is so you could hire a wedding planner but it makes the budget even tighter but you need a rather large budget like $10,000 and $40,000(a really big wedding) Sorry I'm not sure how many pounds that is. The cost really depends on the number off people. With a kid I would think you would want a smaller wedding= smaller price but it is your big day make it how you guys imagine it. Hope that helped:) Your planning should start about a year and a half in advanced so you have time for plannng, stressing out and time for your new baby.

Oftentimes a used bookstore will have an older Bride's workbook for a cheaper price, or you can go to a local bookstore and pick one up. Even Brides' magazines have a basic list of what you need to do and budget planners. First get a place to have your ceremony and reception. Once that and the date are locked in, find a dress, ask people who you want to be your attendants, figure out what you want in your ceremony, and then start thinking about what kind of food you want to serve, etc. Since you're having a baby as well as planning a wedding, i would suggest planning for at least 6 months.

Hire a wedding planner. They do this kind of thing for a living, they have the time, the inclination and the know-how. I am planning my wedding now and it's really stressful, though I love almost everything to do with a wedding - e.g. doing my own programs, favors, invitations. So if I love it and it is stressing me out, I think it might be too much for someone who isn't really that "into it".
Can't help with the figure since I am in the Caribbean and I didn't have one. Congrats on the baby, BTW!

Go to theknot.com. Follow their checklists.
Take time to look at the brides' individual bios, searching for how some incorporated Scottish and African traditions.
Good luck to you.
