yes, if it's store bought cookie dough, the egg in that is pasturized. If it's homemade cookie dough, there is a 1 in 100000 chance that one of the eggs will be infected with salmonilla.

The concern for eating raw cookie dough is the eggs that are in it. The cookie dough that you get in the cookie dough ice must either cook the eggs first in that or omit them entirely due to federal regulations or they couldn't serve it to the public. If you are in your own home, you can basically do what you wish. My opinion is this. The samonella poisoning that you get from raw eggs probably comes from the fact that when people use the eggs they just take them from the carton and break them into the bowl. They do not wash off the egg shell first and I'm sure all of us have seen the 'poop' smears on egg shells from time to time that stained them, even after they were sent through some form of process to sterilize them for the market. I grew up on a topping for pancakes and waffles called 'Egg Butter'. You won't find it in any cook book. It has been passed down now for at least 7 generation of parents, kids and grandkids and so far not one of us has ever gotten any sickness from eating it. It is made from raw eggs, sugar and vanilla and it is sooo good on your pancakes that when you let your kids have it on their, they won't eat them any other way. I ate it that way, made it for my kid who now make it for their kids. Tradition and all of us still healty from eating raw eggs for breakfast. The rest of the dough is made up from ingredients that aren't refredgerated, except the milk that is put into them so you can either omit the eggs and eat the dough that way or take your chance and eat the dough with the eggs in it. We always sampled the raw cookie dough and so did my kids and grand kids.
