The theory is based on the logic that for every man who is allowed to have several wives (or a harem), several men wind up with no wives, ever. Couple that with a belief that if you die violently, your reward is a harem of virgins of your own, and voila, you have a suicide bomber! Or if you become a powerful man by leading others to their deaths as suicide bombers, you get to have your harem here on earth.

Makes sense to me. We all get cranky if we're denied sex, don't we?

This theory would be well worth researching.

It is also worthy of note that the majority of the reported participants in the Mountain Meadows Massacre were single in a polygamous Mormon/LDS society.

It wouldn't if it women were also allowed to take extra husbands. But that wouldn't work, would it? Group marriages, what would be the point. Polygny only works when one gender dominates the other. The men like to have more wives so they can have sex with many women and not call it cheating. When it's religiously based, it works out even better for them. In the case you are talking about, men dominate women. It's just bad all around but I don't think it causes terrorism. What about mormon polyganists, they aren't terrorists, but they don't view women as equals either.

I would agree with you that polygyny can defently be a factore in the terrorisim and violence we see steming from polygynist cultures, but I dont beleive it would the cause. I also think that it is something that can be esaly remidied by switching from polygyny to polygamy. that way the single men who befor wouldent be able to marry at all have the option of become a second or thrid husband, they would be able to have a sexual relationship, compagion ship and the possability of c areing on there gentics instead of no shot at any of thease ever

Did you know that a man willingly let the Harem owner cut off his Johnson making him a eunuch? Since he was a eunuch, he could then take care of every whim of the women in the harem. I think that's insane.

Lorraine Bobbit's one thing ... to willing let this happen and apply for the postion ... whoa.

War, oppresion and feelings that you are unable to control your life cause terrorism. Everytime someone has his or her home and family destroyed you have a new potential terrorist.

Religion, philosophy and lifestyles are the window dressing people wrap around it to make an excuse for the things they want to do in retaliation.

Don't think in hasn't happened here. In both the Revolutionary and Civil wars there were plenty of terrorists on both sides.

Hmmm.. I think it's more the religion thing that causes terrorism and violence.
