Check out your local guitar store. There is always flyers in there and talk to one of the employees as well.If you live in a major city like los angeles do a search online. The main point is that you find a good teacher at an affordable price but do research too.

Call or go to a guitar store, in your city. They may teach lessons in the store, or, know where you can take lessons.

look in a phone book or google guitar sites. most guitar stores offer lessons, Guitar Center and Guitar Xchange are good places if you have those near you.
http://web.mac.com/lukesares/iWeb/how%20to%20rock%20out/Table%20of%20Contents.html there's a good website to get you started too.

if you have a computer (obviously you do!) then go to "www.guitarchords.com"
they have lessons online for free.
however, sitting down with an experienced teacher is the better way to go, how much you learn will be up to how dedicated to learning you are.
anyone can learn how to play, how good they get is up to determination and practise.
