I'm running the Steamtown marathon in Pennsylvania and if anyone has run it, or a similar course, I'd love to hear any tips for training or race day success. Thanks!

The pounding the body takes on such a course can take its toll worse than on hills. You must be patient and cut the stride, using the decline as a guide...not fighting it to clock "quicker" splits. It is tough to simulate that course in training, but try to manage any downhills while on runs. It is one of the best organized marathons in the nation...hope you clock a PR.

Work out your quads good before the marathon, they take a beating going downhill

Control your pace... Let the gravity work on you... but do not abuse it. Hehehehe. It might work on your favor. ANd it is and advantage because you'll avoid running injuries.
