Call The Department of Transportation - Yes, it is the city's responsibility to keep the freeways at least, free of debris or obstacles that could cause accidents. Call them and see what they say.

Your stuck with the repair bill.

The city can't be held liable, for something they had no control over. It's an unreasonable expectation, that the city can pounce on and collect every bit of trash, someone dumps on the roadway.

It sucks, but thats how it is.

um.. why.. did the city put the bucket there? does the city have the responsibility to zap up immediately every bucket that lands on the road? LoL.. do you see what your asking?

No one is responsible for this but you. It was there to be seen in the middle of the highway... dear.. your paying for this. No other way around it.

Did the city put the bucket there? Can you prove that? If so, by all means file. They will reject the claim and send it to their insurance carrier who will start contacting you through their attorneys to get you to drop the claim. Good luck with it.

Why is a stray bucket on the road the fault of the city? Was it some sort of city bucket? I think you better open wide and swallow this big dose of reality, pal -- it's no one's fault, pay the man to fix your car.
Damn...

You're out of luck.
The city didn't hit the object, you did.

MAYBE AND MAYBE NOT, YOU WILL HAVE TO CALL THE CITY AND GO THROUGH A LOT OF RED TAPE.
