Considering that you just moved, they should be kept in one room for a while until they get used to their new home. Pets can be like little children; they need reassurance from you not negativity. They are acting out just like a child that doesn't feel safe. Every time I moved my cat would run and hide because he was afraid. Sometimes it took days for him to adapt to his new surroundings. Make sure your cats have their litter box, food and water in one room. Don't let them outside yet as they may try to find their way back to your old place.(Walt Disney Movie about two dogs and a Siamese cat) Patience is a virtue, after 2 days let them explore the rest of the house with you as chaperone. If they get destructive, put them back in the room, sort of like a time out except they're cats. Keep doing this until they feel secure, don't forget to cuddle, pet, play with and hug them. Make sure they have some bedding in the room that smells like the old house or you, like an old sweater. This may take a while, but please don't just let them outside since they are used to being inside. They don't know about roads, cars, dogs or any other predatory animals. Keep them inside unless you want to take a chance and you may end up burying them instead. Good luck

Are they declawed? If so you should NOT put them outside. They are very vulnerable like this. Your best bet would be to see if someone else can take them. OR-let them stay in the house and see what happens. You can use a squirt gun if you catch them doing something wrong. Also, I heard cats don't like the smell of citrus and you could try misting your couch and blinds with a citrus room freshener. Good luck.

Do you have scratching posts? And yes, that's posts, plural... since you have multiple cats. A cat will claim a post and other cats will avoid it.
Cats have to scratch. It's how they keep their claws from getting too long and how they keep them sharp. It also helps them to stretch their muscles as they grab hold and pull back.
You need to provide scratching posts for your cats... rub catnip on them and then show them how to use them. Sometimes you can just get their attention and scratch them yourself. Cats often get the idea quickly enough. Or if you catch one scratching something s/he shouldn't be, you say "no" in a firm tone, and then take the cat to the scratching post and _gently_ rub his / her paws against it. This should NOT be a punishment.
Praise them to the sky anytime you see them using the scratching posts.

Putting the cats outside will be an adjustment for you cats and also for you. Let the cats adjust to the new house before you let them into the great outdoors... Cats can be finicky.... they may be acting out because they are only exploring and getting use to a new place with new things.. Good Luck :)

You can't just turf them out because they're no longer convenient to you!!
You need to train them to use scratch posts instead of your furniture. Cover the scratch posts in the same material that they like to scratch, and put their paws on it whenever they try to scratch anything else. You could also exclude them from certain rooms. And keep their claws clipped!
I can't believe you'd even consider making them live outside just to suit you! You've got cats - deal with it.

Well, if you don't want them to be inside cats, you can make them outside cats, because they probably wouldn't run away or anything since their so used to being inside. But if they do become outside cats, try not to let them inside... you will have FLEAS inside!!!!
