For 'Girl' & 'Bandicoot'
Carl Jung called the part of ourselves that we dont really want to face (because we feel bad about it in some way) the 'shadow self.' Have a look at this article for more depth

Yeah I've met him. He is my evil twin. He is 2o pounds heavier than me, sometimes doesn't shave for two or three days, and catches himself eating donuts when he knows he shouldn't.. Too bad.. I was hoping my shadow would be my better twin...but then we'd be triplets! And by the way...you oughta tell us what YOU found when you looked!

so the doppleganger is said to be able to take on our form and could be thought of as the 'material world's' version of a shadow self...but i think that particular mythology has been done to death here?

personally i met what i think of as my shadow self in a dream a while back - all my worst aspects like Dorian Gray's portrait come to life and it was both scary and sad to see such lostness....but mainly it was scary to see the abuse of power perhaps we are all CAPABLE of? and the message for me was clear - heal the split, step out of the denial - DEAL with this side of you that you go 'la-la-la not listening' any time he appears in the flesh...still, for me it seems to work if i don't try and deal with spiritual things spiritually and psychological things with psych' - seems to me that, like integrating the shadow - ALL things can be integrated, the only 'true path' is the 'one' that takes you forwards.
jeesh...why am i rambling tonight?

Yes. think of your shadow self as the warrior within yourself. The person that "stands up" when you feel you are being wronged or the person that stands up for others that are being wronged.

Your shadow self is your very own "superhero" alter-ego!

I wonder who else can put it better than Gurudev?

Oh, I forget, there could be a small generation-gap. We used to refer in all humility as just 'Gurudev', when we talk about Shri Rabindranath Tagore! ( I hope I shall be pardoned, either way!)

I am my shadow self (most of the time and mostly to people I don't know).

I found power. Everyone knows darkness > light.

Yes I have... And the funny thing about the shadow self is this:

You cant run from it
You cant fight it
You cant over power it
The only thing you can do IS
Shed some light on it...

I only see my shadow when the sun is out, and that is not very often in Scotland.
I found out that it had a habit of following me,
I think it was actually stalking me.
