Being away for so many hours in a day might make house training take a little longer...Remember that I puppy cannot hold there bladder until 12 weeks.. 6 weeks is a little young...And coming from experience the Bulldog breed loves to Chew..... and they will chew A LOT so please make sure that this is the right kind of dog for you before you buy it...and by chew I mean The crate, the floor, mine even chewed the wall!!!!!

Well, your first problem is that no reputable breeder is going to sell you a 6 week old puppy. Most breeders won't release a puppy until at least 8 weeks old, 10-12 weeks is better and healthier for the puppy. Its not a good idea to get a puppy when you work all day. A puppy that age will have to go out to the bathroom at least every 2 hours, usually more often than that. You'll end up with an unsocialized and un-potty trained puppy. I wouldn't recommend getting a puppy unless you can have someone else watch and train the puppy while you're at work. Its just not fair to the dog at all. They are social creatures and a puppy alone all day isn't a good idea.

You can't take him away from his mother when he's only 6 weeks old for one thing. Who's trying to sell you a pup at that age, they must be very irresponsible. No proper breeder would part with a puppy before 8 weeks of age, preferably 12 weeks (after they've had their vaccinations).

This isn't an ideal situation. Older more settled dogs might be OK for 8 hours a day, with plenty of room and toys, but if you're introducing a young puppy into a house you need to be there with it for the majority of the time for the first few weeks and then gradually work up to leaving him alone for a while - but even then, 8 hours? Hmm.

6 weeks is way too young to take a pup from its mum. Wait until it is at least 8 weeks.
Also, a puppy cannot be left alone in a home unless it is in a crate until it is at least a year old. In a crate, they need to be let out and excercised every 4 hours or more.
If you can commit to properly excercising the dog then 8 hours in a crate, in 4 hour increments is fine, but just remember that it will need a lot of playtime before and after work as well as at lunch.

A breeder that will sell a pup that's 6 weeks old is not worth doing business with.
Puppies should not leave their mothers until at least 8 weeks old, and preferably closer to 10 or 12. This is common knowledge, especially for breeders. The fact that this person chooses to ignore this is a huge red flag.
Have the pup's parents been tested for genetic defects? How are their hips? Have their eyes been checked? These are tests that the parents need to pass before they are bred. Be careful - forewarned is forearmed.

I too have an english bulldog (her name is angel) Your dog should be fine at home, it would be a good idea though to give your dog access to the outside so it can do it's business. The other thing to consider is the financial committment an english bulldog is. From my personal experience I've had 2 major situations with angel. Together they cost me over $10,000.. Just keep that in mind, english bulldogs have a tendency to be very high maintenence.

A pup so young needs to go outside every 2 - 3 hours around the clock. Plus, it needs careful interaction with neutral dogs for socialization over the next 2 weeks.

If you're dead-set on getting the pup, pay for it now, but wait at least 2 weeks before bringing it home.

That will be OK, but 6 weeks is a bit too young to leave the mother. Can you pick up the puppy after 8 weeks old?

6 weeks old is far to young to be gone from its mother. Also 8 hours is farrrrr to long to be alone.

I would talk to a vet in the area. The might be able to tell you if there are any reputable breeders in the area.
