I think a little of both. Obviously, I have made decisions that have led me to where I am today, but there are other things that have happened that I had no control over.
(I am not referring to god, but other people. Like getting fired or hit by a car.)
I think it I have the greatest influence over my life. Even if things happen that were out of my control, I still decide how to react and how much I am going to let it interfere with my happiness. Sometimes all you need is a good attitude to get through the worst things.

A bit of both. Many decisions are actually made for us ie we can only do one thing not always what we want to do. The decisions we make may place us in the first situation but I think it is about evens, but you are responsible for those decisions you have to make, you can not excuse them on circumstances.

As I get older, I've come to realize it's a combination of the two. Challenges get greater but the knowledge of how to deal with those challenges increases too. Life seems more out of my control, but I can accept that easier and not let it bring me down.

We always have the right to screw up.....and since others do too, they will make the situations over which we have no control.
The greater influence on us depends on our position. Have we got supernatural help to stand firm against adversities or we like waves in the sea being tossed around by every wind.

When you're depressed, all you can think about is how terrbile life is. However, have you ever looked back on your life? You'll find that a majority of your memories are happy ones.
Sometimes we feel like life is a pit of torture, but just remember that every day is a new day and that life will have it's ups and downs.

i would say this varies with individual cases. i think that it some how evens out but im a really lucky person. i could understand people who think life's not fair, becasue crap has happened to them before. Ultimately though, I believe one must take responsibility for where they are, atleast in our society.
