Alright well after the visit to the vets. they told me she was unsure of what my dog had. and then began to treat her for mange "just incase".(I dont see how this is possible because my other two dogs would be showing symptoms as well.) so she told me not to worry about her ear. She clearly has an ear infection it now puts out alot go brownish discharge or wax that has a super bad odour. I clean it twice daily to help keep her comfortable and i am also giving her benedryl. I asked the vet if its possible for animals to get allergy tests and she told me. no becuase no matter how many time you do an allergy test on an animal you'll never get a correct result. I found this quite odd. is it true? Im not quite sure where to go from here. All i know shes getting worse quick

She has yeast in her ears. Rubbing alcohol will kill that infection. Just fill the canal with rubbing alcohol while the dog is laying on her side 3-4 times a day for a few days then once or twice a week from then on. It is a common problem in floppy eared dogs

Did benadryl help the dog at all? If not the next step would be steroids for an allergy or a skin scraping to check for mange. Mange is treated with large doses of ivermectin by mouth and a topical lindane type product. You could even try the RID lice shampoo to bathe her in.

Both these problems (above) are auto immune disorders. If you cannot find a way to control them, and it gets to the point the dog is suffering you will have to make some choices. If Benadryl seemed to help at all then I would go with the steroids. IF not then go wtih the ivermectin for mange.

Does your dog have reoccurring yeast infections in her ears? If she is a floppy eared dog this is common. Plain rubbing alcohol will solve it. If she has an active infection, use it three or more times a day. Lie her on her side and pour a capfull into the ear. (less if she is a small dog) Just don't let it run out into her eyes. It will get the yeast under control in a few days. Then, after the infection is healed, use the alcohol once or twice a week to prevent another occurrence. It will work and costs less than a dollar. It is not unusual for floppy-eared dogs to have yeast infections over and over and over. Some people say it is an allergy. I think it is simply that air cannot circulate through their ears well. Alcohol does work and costs a lot less than those repeated one and fifty dollar vet visits.

You NEED to find a different vet...this one is not very good.
1) Allergy tests are very accurate when done on dogs
2) ear infections need to be treated
3) before mange treatment is considered a skin scraping needs to be done to determine if this is the cause or if it is an allergic reaction to something

Also mange isn't always contageous..it depnds on what kind it is..

The discharge may be a yeast infection. I would treat the area with an antifungal ointment (ask the vet). Try keeping the ears dry and clean. You may want to slowly change to a pet food that doesn't have any grain in it.

Absolutely not, it is quite possible to have your pet tested for allergies, even more so if it 's a dog, cats don't seem to respond to the tests as clearly.

So go to another vet and ask to have your dog tested for allergies.

The symptoms she's having looks to me to be related to allergies.
