It's taking forever and I just dont really have the patience for it. Who would I call?

its wood with alot of groves in it. I'm pretty sure it's not going to come off the wall without some serious work involved.

I think a painter would charge you too much. I would hire a handyman for a lot less per hour than a painter would charge.

What kind of bannister (wood, metal ?) and what are you using?

I had a wooden bannister (about 16 feet) that I removed from the wall, set in the garage, painted with stripper, and had completely clean within about an hour. I then sanded it, stained it, and sealed it. It was back on the wall in 2 days.

ironically i would look for a painter or ask for a recommendation from a painter
