After three days of fasting (water fasting- the only right way to do it) your body goes into ketosis and starts living primarily off its own fat stores. But for the first three days it's devouring almost as much muscle protein as fat. If you starve yourself, but continue to eat a really small amount of food every day you never reach the fat-devouring stage, because you don't go into ketosis. In fact if you starve for too long you may go into a dangerous mode called 'keto-acidosis' which is very bad. When you fast you don't ever exceed 30-40 days and your immune system goes into overdrive, but if you starve you can actually start to damage your immune system. This is what a lot of anorexics do.

Fasting is usually a structured way of denying food/nutrients. Fasting only happens for a preset amount of time, and depending on the type fast there may be certain foods that are allowed to be eaten and/or water to be had. Starving (voluntarily) is the extreme end of nutrient denial and is very unhealthy. Fasting for a short period of time can allow the body to rid itself of toxins, but starving one's self, especially for the sake of weight loss actually makes the body hold on to weight. With starvatoin, the body depletes all of its reserves and is left open to sickness because the immune system is compromised because of a lack of necessary nutrients.

Starving means either you have not eaten in a long time, have made a decision not to eat, or someone is forcibly detaining (keeping) you from eating. Fasting is a spiritual experience in which you back up your prayer by abstaining from eating one or more meals.

Starving is what you do if you live in the usa while the government sends all your tax dollars to feed the rest of the world. Fasting is what you do if you live in one of the recipient countries and chose not to eat the free food provided.

well starving isn't usually by choice its because you don't have anything to eat. but sometimes people refer to starving their selves because they aren't eating because they don't want to or because they think they are fat and what not. but fasting is for religious and customs and stuff like that its actually abstinence from food or drink or both for ritualistic, mystical, ascetic, or other religious or ethical purposes. starving is from not having food to eat or not eating cause you think your fat or something like that they are very close but yet so very different

People who starve don't eat anything. People who fast eat honey or yogurt or fruit sometimes.
