Probably. The creditor isn't going to talk to you without permission from your parents. You may be able to have your parents give permission over the phone to discuss the debt with you but you'll have to do that every time you talk to the credit card people.

I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY, FINANCIAL ADVISOR OR ACCOUNTANT.

If you or someone else is acting on and for your elderly sick parents, I strongly advise getting this matter taken care of as soon as possible.

Today, as soon as a person mentions, “My mom/dad is sick” , etc., those words pretty much end the conversation and the progress a person made [or the obstacles he/she encountered] AND the future barriers he/she may encounter.

There are several kinds of Powers of Attorney. I suggest you speak with a reputable, knowledgeable, competent estate attorney to discuss which Power of Attorney would best fit your parents’ needs.

If you have brother[s] or sister[s], perhaps he/she/they should be involved iin this process, as well.

Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer.

I wish you well!

VTY,
