Think about it, the church was doing fine for 400 years, it would have continued today.

Luther wouldnt have been able to make his own bible, there wouldnt be crazy fundies hating everyone based on half a book.

Seriously I am convinced that most protestants worship the bible above God and Jesus.

Talk about Catholics petitioning Mary, they call that idolotry which it isint but they think the bible is actually God himself.

Just to be clear all Christians were catholic and practiced their faith as Jesus instructed untill the protestant movement started.

They threw the baby out with the bathwater and ended up with allmost 40,000 different denominations

Ok, U think about This, K??? The Catholics Didn't "Create the Bible", God did using His Chosen Men to write down what He Said!!! They did it on animal skins, papyrus, metal etc. & God "Preserved" it for us, Inspiring Scholars & Archaeologists to "Assemble" the material into what we now call the Bible! Some "Versions" were "Created" by the Catholic church and, (Now Sit Down for this One!) at Several points in Time, the Catholic churchs' "Papas" Actually Outlawed the Owning, Printing or Studying of the Bible in order to Control People!!! This started with Clement XI (1700-21) through at least Pius IX (1846-78)!!! I would Strongly Urge U to truly Study the History of the "church" as it is a Real Eye Opener!!! Try "Halley's Bible Handbook" or just a "Good History Book" if U are afraid of "Bias". John

first off, Catholics didnt create the bible...God, Jesus, and the Apostles and scribes did. tur b is absolutely right. The Catholic church saved the bible from destruction and altercations. and are you catholic??? apprently not so how can you sit there and act like you know everything about Catholicism when you dont know sh'it. Catholics dont petition Mary, nor do Catholics worship Mary. The Virgin Mary is one of the most powerful miracles in the Bible. God sewed a seed in her womb and she was still a virgin. AMAZING!!! Catholics pray to Mary for strength, mercy, and other things. Catholics do not pray to her for salvation or forgiveness.

Catholics do not hold the Bible above God or Jesus. Catholics are the most God fearing people and they wouldnt dare test the words of God.

If we didn't have the Bible, then we wouldn't have true Christianity. Think about it. After all of the years of persecution Christians went through, dont you think the Bible would have been destroyed and the word of God lost forever if not for the Roman Catholic Church???

The catholic church--and only the catholic church claims that the Apocrypha was/is part of the Word of God.

In 1546 during the "Council of Trent," the vatican declared the Apocrypha was "Holy Writ," and officially part of their Old Testament Canon.

The most simplest way to prove that the Apocrypha is nothing but a lie is, go back and find one that was written in Christopher Columbus day.

We all know that land vs. water is 30-70. We also know that God doesn't lie (Refer to John 17:17 from the one and only AV1611) We also know that He is more than able to (Psalms 12:6-7, Matthew 24:35, II Peter 1:21, II Tim. 3:16-17) preserve His Word.

Apocrypha proclaims that land vs water is 50-50.

"For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:" 1 Peter 2:15

When referring to the Apocrypha, always remember John 8:43-45!

"Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not."

"Did the Catholic Church Give Us the Bible?", by David W Daniels

The Bible, the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament, preserved for us in the Masoretic text (Old Testament) Textus Receptus (New Testament) and in the King James Bible, is verbally and plenarily inspired of God. It is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and altogether authentic, accurate and authoritative Word of God, therefore the supreme and final authority in all things.

To answer the above comment, no, the catholic church didn't give us (Man kind) the Word of God in any shape or form. The "only" thing that mama has given us is her opinion of what she thinks that we should call the Bible. Just to name some of them, they are: NIV, TNIV, NASV, NRSV, etc. The writings of Westcoff and Hort are the sole property of the catholic church. Westcoff and Hort writings have nothing to do with the Word of God--never have--never will.

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." Revelation 18:4-5

The books contained in the Bible as we know it today were all inspired by God, written by men.
It was in the Council of Hippo in 393 that they(the list of holy books) were compiled, and at they were canonized in the Council (3rd synod)of Carthage in 397.
These included the apochryphal books that the Protestants took out.
So the protestants do not have the complete Bible, a symptom of their state in Christianity having not the fullness of truth in their sects.
This is the reason why the rule the Bible as the sole rule of faith. They completely ignore the role of Tradition in the Church.
That is in the Bible "Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle." 2 Thessalonians 2:15

I'm sorry, I'm trying to make sense of this question.

First of all, the Catholics didn't "create" the Bible, nor did they write it. Christians didn't even exist when the Bible was started, in about 2000 B.C. or so. All that was done regarding the Bible was that a final standard was created. However, prior to the Council of Nicea, there already WAS a canon, and it's almost identical to the one the Christian church uses now.

The books of the Apocrypha which are currently in the Catholic Bible had NEVER been part of the Bible until the Reformation. It was at the Council of Trent in 1532 that the Old Testament grew by a few books.

Martin Luther DIDN'T "make his own Bible." He upheld the original canon.

Doesn't matter whether the Bible was created or uncreated. Here it is and here we are. Human will argue about anything and everything for pride, and just for the sake of argument, and sometimes just plain ignorance.

Just try to think of all the off-shoots as branches of a wonderful tree, and be happy with the thought that some of those branches are going to be pruned. That thought ought to comfort you, although it makes me feel a tad trepidatious.

Really. They keep slapping us in the head with our own book. One thing that does give me some satisfaction – every time a Protestant stands by the bible as the infallible, inspired Word of God, they are recognizing the authority of the Catholic Church whether they like it or not since it was Her authority that gave us our Bible.

If the protties don’t like our canon, why don’t they make their own? And if they did, who would trust it?

if the Catholic Church didn't preserve the Bible, there wouldn't be any Bible for protestants to read. Protestants should be thankful it has been preserved by the Catholic Church, but since they're ungrateful, they use the Bible against the Church.

So many different directions is this questin.

First..you acknowledge the Bible existed 400 years before they "created" it, so ergo, they did not "create" the bible.

As for Martin...he didn't "make his own Bible"...he advocated translating it from Latin to the language of his people, and second, that it was not "works" and a bunch of rules that would gain Heaven, but a straight look at Jesus' message of grace and grace alone. It was this message of "grace" that ired the hierarchy. After all...he was saying you were free of the rituals they were advocating, and free to pursue a relationship without any middle man having to be your intercessory.
