well, if all things were equal, and change were possible (which it isn't), i'd love the see the whole concept of 'dhimma' removed. that is the tax paid by all us 'infidels' to muslims, for the privelege of being allowed to keep living, without becoming muslims. it's only applied to jews and christians, since even though the muslims feel that we aren't equal to them, we aren't "idolators" in their minds. dhimmis (those who pay the dhimma) are second class citizens, without rights in court (dhimmis can't give testimony in court against a muslim, and can't defend themselves in court against a muslim; they can't own property, they can't employ muslims, they aren't supposed to ride a horse (i suppose that would translate to a nice car), but are allowed to ride a donkey; have to wear distinctive clothes, which announce to the world that they are dhimmis, and as i recall, they don't have the right to travel and relocate(which would mean a loss of the dhimma).and, if a muslim kills a dhimmi, the muslim would only pay a small fraction of the money he would have to pay if he were to kill another muslim.
all of those are reasons i feel that the dhimma is repressive, oppressive, and immoral, and why i would like to see it abolished, since it's been stated that the goal of islam is to take over the whole world, and make everyone either convert or become dhimmi.

I would like to see some Muslims change for the better but thats up to them not me.
Some rights of a Muslim woman in Islam
The woman has the right to have the similar levels of food as she had before she was married. In terms of quality.
He does not have to cook or clean for him. She can refuse and he would have to pay for someone to do it.
He can refuse to live with the in laws and demand her own house.
She has the right to take money from him if he is tight fisted and does not give her money
She has the right to the mahr which is a wedding gift from the husband. If she wants a divorce she pays some of this back.
She cannot be forced into a marriage, if she is she can walk away.
Stoning is only for those who are married, men or women, the ones who are not married are lashed but not severely, with a wooden stick. There needs to be four witnesses who actually saw the action take place. What I mean is that someone has to see the male and the female part meet, just being in the same bed is not enough. This is why in the five hundred period of the Ottoman empire that stretched from Egypt, Syria Iraq, Saudi and turkey it was only done 5 times. As you can see its almost impossible to prove. If all of the witnesses statements don't match then the case is dropped.
If someone comes and accuses a woman without the four witness or three more if he includes himself then he is lashed for making a false accusation - 80 times.

I certainly don't want women's rights changed. As a Muslim woman, I own my own money or property absolutely. I don't have to contribute a penny towards the household expenses, not even to support myself. The money I choose to contribute to the family counts as charity, for which I will receive a Divine reward.
My husband has to support the family absolutely. If the family needs something and he doesn't provide it, even though he can, he is liable for Divine punishment.
As a Muslim wife, I don't even have to clean the house or take care of the children. When I do it, I am performing an act of charity, for which I will receive a divine reward. My husband is actually responsible for seeing that these things are done, if I choose not to do them.
As a Muslim woman, I have the right to my husband's companionship, help, advice, and protection.

re: Stoning
Both men and women may be stoned if caught in the act of adultery. There are only two ways to prove adultery:
1. There have to be four adult, sane, male Muslim witnesses who can definitely identify the couple, and swear that they actually saw the act of intercourse took place. (The rule is that they try to draw a string between the adulterer's bodies and are not able to.) How often do you think adulterers would "do it" in a place where they could be so identified, or politely cooperate while men drew such a string being drawn between them?
or
2. adulterers confess. A woman did this at the time of Prophet Muhammad, God bless him and grant him peace, and he tried to talk her out of it! He said, "Maybe you only looked at each other." She insisted. He suggested, "Maybe you only touched each other." She insisited. He gave her several more chances to say that she didn't actually do it, and she insisted.
She had a baby, so he ordered that she could not be executed until the time of breastfeeding was over, and released her to live, unguarded, in the community. Two years later, she returned to him. (He didn't send anybody to look for her; she came back to him of her own accord.) She showed him her child, who was big and healthy, walking and talking, and waited.
Finally, she was executed.
==
If a Muslim husband publicly accuses his wife of adultery, and she swears four times that she is innocent, the judge must exonerate her, unless there are four male Muslim witnesses other than the husband. In the case of an unproven accusation, the couple are divorced; what woman would want to continue to live with a man who maligned so maligned her?
==
If an unmarried woman becomes pregnant, the judge must give her the opportunity to testify that she was raped. A woman who is raped is not guilty of anything, but the government must try to identify the rapist and punish him.

I like to study religions, and Islam happens to be a very liberal religion, Women definitely have equal rights as man, but some society (whom follow Islam) condam women of certain rights. The thing about Muslims taking over the world is really funny to me, because if you look at the media you can see that American are killing thousands of Muslim each and every day, those the religion is slowly being depleted.

No is Islam is a complete and perfect way of life
and by the way women in Islam are not oppressed, Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.
In a truely Islamic society women have the following rights in Islam:
1. The right and duty to obtain education.
2. The right to have their own independent property.
3. The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.
4. Equality of reward for equal deeds.
5. The right to express their opinion and be heard.
6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.
7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.
8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.)
9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).
10. The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.
11. custody of their children after divorce.
12. to refuse any marriage that does not please them
and more...
Edit:
The cultural practices are the ones which need to change.
