So my Photoshop couldn't open this file that I just made yesterday.
It says
"Could not open "-Insert File Location-" because it is not a valid Photoshop document."
Why did this happen?

I checked, its set on "PSD" and it won't let me open or change the file settings.

It does end with PSD and nothing else, the file was called
"id.psd"
And it will not ever open

Are you sure that in the File Open dialogue, the "Filetype" is set to .jpg rather than .psd (or some other kind of) files? "All Files" might also work, but try "JPEG" to be safe.

If you saved the file as a Photoshop file, make sure the filename ENDS with the .psd

If the name different, then PhotoShop will give you an error similar to yours.

An example:
filename.psd.old

This file will not open in PS even if it is a PhotoShop file.

Rename it and delete everything so it ends with .psd
