I've been told that it does, but I was also under the impression that it's based on income.

Medicaid is based on income. However, if you are pregnant and do not have insurance, the guidelines are different. Even if you have never qualified for Medicaid because your income is too high, if you are pregnant and don't have insurance, you will probably qualify. The medicaid will cover your pregnancy and through the 6 week checkup. The baby will be covered until their 1st birthday.

I'm a little confused about your question. If you are already on Medicaid, pregnancy is covered. Some states provide Medicaid coverage for all pregnant women without maternity coverage insurance, others provide a sliding scale coverage for pregnancy only. Some still provide no special coverage-it's all based on income, not lack of insurance.

Contact Social Services to find out for sure what the coverage is for you. It's way cheaper for states to provide prenatal care than to try to care for a sick infant after the fact.

i live in NJ and it covers any pregnant women that dont have insurance and at any age. When you fill out your application it will ask you if your job offers you insurance, say no this way they have to give you it. It really is based on income i think here in NJ if you dont make 30k then you qualify

Here, it's based somewhat on income--they won't give it to you if your household makes more than like $50,000 a year for 2 people, or already have medical insurance.

It is based on your income. It is like any other program, you have to apply and see if you meet the requirements.
