it seems to me that the russians are becoming more of a world power day by day, not stronger as our military but still looks like they are coming back better organized and equipped than their past comrades.what do you think?

Did we really WIN....

and define winning.... the US murdered millions of nationalists throughout the 20th century with the excuse of the Cold War. Murdered in Russia, Asia and Latin America. Tell me, were the lives of millions of non-whites worth it? was it a stunning victory? a slam dunk? Was murdering socialists a victory in it self?

edit: it seems yahoos are proud their country murdered millions of people. Which again is the Evil Empire?

Nobody won the Cold War! it was a draw.

Travel to Eastern Europe was initiated by the East Germans opening the wall from their side and the Romanian peoples Revolution in 1989.
Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria Czechoslovakia followed along once it was seen the Russian Bear was toothless.

From the German-Czech border to Vladivostok in Eastern Siberia there are hundreds of millions of people who no longer need an exit visa, no longer fear the unannounced knock on the door at night and can created a better life for their children then they had for themselves. I'd call that a victory. Mir yv Swoboda (Peace and Freedom). Good news for all!

We really did "win" the cold war. If you consider living in a free nation (even as socialistic as ours) vs a communist nation important then you would say we won. Of course some people might like having no control over who leads them, no decision in what to do for a living, no income because everything is provided, no personal interest in life at all.

That depends on how you wanna look at it. Could be the Soviet Union said, you wanna rule, go for it - knowing the financials and do look at our financials today. They made a mistake once, they learned where we have become ignoreant. How much do we owe ourselves?

I can't believe there are people even asking that question...LOL...man....!

what do you think???????

no more USSR!!,

no more gulags in Siberia!!,

no more massive soviet armies in Eastern Europe threatening to invade Western Europe!!

no more soviet nuke boats off the coast of Long Island ready to nuke your behind, I know I chased some of them off in my boats (US Navy Submarine Force vet here)!

etc etc etc.....!

we won! problem (is like usual no adays), no USA follow through after the victory (Iraq comes to mind kiddies?), no massive Marshall plan to cement Democracy there afterwards, SPECIALLY in Russia!!..and now we have Putin in there!!!...

Ask the Chairman of the Politburo...oh, wait, there is no such thing. Come to think of it, there's no Soviet Union.

Crap..yeah, I guess we won the cold war.

that proves we won, just like japan and germany, we spend billions to defeat someone, and then spend trillions to build them back up better than before until they become a threat to us again.
