Hi there. Turkey is at the far end of the Mediterranean Sea. If you can get a hold of an atlas, go to the stretch of sea which separates Gibraltar, Spain, Italy and Greece from the North of Africa - Morocco, Algeria, Libya etc. Go right towards the end of the sea (to the right) and you will see two larger islands. The first one you will come to is Crete (long and narrow) and the next one is Cyprus ( looks a bit like a flattened rat with its tail sticking up and out the the right!!!!). Turkey is quite a large country and it sits above and between Crete and Cyprus. Turkey is on the mainland although a small area on the North East of Cyprus is Turkish . Turkey is not in political Europe - I mean that it is not a member of the European Community, but geographically it is split between the continents of Europe and Asia. From Newcastle it will take about four and a half to five hours to fly there depending on which airport you are flying to. Hope that you find this helpful. Try and get Google Earth, it is a fantastic FREE software download with NO spyware, adware, pop-ups or unwanted programs. If your parents allow you to download this it would be great for you and they could do it with no fear of viruses from the GENUINE Google Earth download site which I have given you the link to below. When you get onto the site and click the downloads link on the left of the page and choose the correct operating system your computer works on..... get your parents to do it for you just to be sure. Have a fabulous holiday.

It takes about 4 hours. Most of Turkey is in Asia Minor with a small part which you are unlikely to visit unless your going to Istanbul in Europe. The country is huge but most people visit the south west for holidays which is on the Aegean/Mediterranean seas at the eastern end of the Med.For most things such as post etc Turkey is classed as part of Europe but physically part of Asia .

Geographically, Turkey forms a natural bridge between the old world continents of Asia, Africa and Europe. The Anatolian peninsula is the westernmost point of Asia, divided from Europe by the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits. Thrace is the western part of Turkey on the European continent.

Turkey is not part of the EU (European Union), but the area around Istanbul is considered European. The rest of the country is Asian.

Turkey is the one in pink
Your flight would take about 3-4 hrs.
Edit: Fliege5200- Middle East? Turkey is definitely NOT part of the Middle East. We are neighbors to Iran and other ME countries, but we are an Asian majority country.

3.55 hours will have you in Turkey.
Yes Turkey enjoys 2 continents Europe and Asia.
Well done for choosing Turkey. As Turkey loves the English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish people.
They appreciate the Geordie banter and dialect.
Give Turkey a chance, because for a country steeped in ancient history, it needs to learn, that which is needed to learn, and they now know, we of Britain can show them
where it,s at. Have a great holiday.!
