Monotheism always paints itself into corners that way.
As another responder pointed out, Jesus himself said "no man comes to the Father but by me." Well . . . what about people who *don't* want to come to the Father? Who aren't, for example, JEWISH? Who have their own indigenous folkways and godhs? Why should the free people of the North care about what some desert religion says about its own primacy?
As for me, I have put away foreign gods, and will whore after them no more, in accordance with their very own Bible. :-)

To be exact to them the Catholic Church was the true "religion" for over a thousand years before any other form of Christianity, and just see how they were. I see Catholics as almost a different religion from Protestantism.
Protestants just came along in the past 400 years or so, and so often forget that Catholics were the only Christianity and look at all the Church did during the Medieval Ages.
They think their "The" religion because of the great political work and real politik the Catholic Church actually conducted.

I totally agree with Kaliko. Jesus did in fact teach us that love and respect is the way to reach out to people. But in the past and even now there are plenty of Christians who believe that using force is the only way non-believers will follow Christ.
But that is wrong and thats what makes alot of people including you think that we Christians are contradicting ourselves. You cannot blame all Christains for the negative and forceful behaviour of other believers, those types dont even deserve to be called Christians. You also cant blame Jesus for that negative behaviour either because he spoke about love but many so-called Christains twist His words and try to shove religion down other's thoarts. Thats not the way Jesus wants us to be.
Christians as well as any other people of other religions believe that their denomination is the "right way". It is a matter of faith and how much you believe. But we Christians believe that our religion is the right way because Jesus said so in the Bible. He said in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father(God) except through Me" He is saying that He is the only way that anyone can get to Heaven and to God, so that is enough proof for us to believe so and continue believing.
Hope this helped you out :)

simply put- if you've ever taken a philosophy class then you'd know that it's impossible to have two contradicting truths. Society is in the mind set that everyone can be right in their own way. this is an impossibility when two "truths" contradict. either someone is right or everyone is wrong, and since Christians believe in things contradicting in some way to other religions, its only sense that they would believe that they are right otherwise it wouldn't be much of a faith.

The doctrine of authority plays the biggest part in my mind. Hebrews 5:4 says that authority to preach and administer the gospel comes from God. God can't be the author of the confusion we see among sects. The way I see it is, God gives us commandments through prophets. These prophets can be called prophets because of the authority or power they are given by God. The Bible (Amos) speaks of the apostasy (a time in which prophets would no longer be found). Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to restore what was lost. Give this website a try.

Isn't that pretty much the definition of a Christian?
If they didn't feel that their religious beliefs were correct, they'd hardly be Christians, would they?
You don't find too many people who say "Well, I believe in Christ, and the resurrection, and salvation and all that, but I'm pretty sure it's the Hindus that actually have it right".

Jesus didn't bring Christianity by force and violence. That was man made crap. His message was love God and each other. Over the decades you have people who actually follow Christ's teaching and others who want to control and make you follow Christ's teachings. You can't blame Jesus for man's mistakes. You can't blame all Christians for the ones who made Christianity a joke to so many.

Christianity was founded by God, reaching out to us. Other religions were founded by men, trying to reach God. That fact gives Christianity priority over all others.

It should not matter what religion you are..christianity, catholics, hinduism, buddhists, ecetera... they are all denominations meaning they are just titles given to religious groups that practice different teachings, and different beliefs. But when it really comes down to it God could care less what your religion is just as long as you believe that He is God, come judgement day He will only judge us according to what we have done not what denomination we are.
