I'm a lifelong Christian, and have always been curious about other denominations, as well as about non-Christian belief systems. I believe that one of the best ways to find out about other beliefs is to attend their services. So I've attended Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Wiccan (and other types of Pagan), Eckankar, New Age, and many other kinds of services, in addition to the services of many different Christian denominations. I have cultivated friends who adhere to many different religions and philosophies (including quite a few people who do not practice any religion at all). Attending services was a good way to learn about what these religions teach. I also read the literature of many, many different religions, anything from the Satanic Bible to the Bhagavad-Gita. Does this make me an expert on other religions? Hardly. But every bit of new information that I get is very valuable to me.

I do. I learned about a lot of different belief systems before securely setting on mine. Pagan, Wiccan, Existentialism, various branches of unitarianism and trinitarianism, Native American religion, and eastern religions. Yes, Atheism too.
I was also fascinated by ancient Greek and Roman polytheism for many years - but I don't know if that's the same thing you're meaning.
I'm not a drone. I'm a seeker. Occasionally we find something we're seeking.
BTW, everyone thinks they're right and everyone else who thinks differently is wrong. That's not exclusive to people who are "dumber" than you, friend, as you've proven here.

i'm a religious studies major and a Muslim....
unlike others... i didn't choose my religion b/ i felt all others were wrong.. but b/ i felt mine made the most sense to me.
I don't follow Christian theology because i could never understand the trinity.... even before converting
I've studied the life of the Prophet Muhammad in great detail and i believe he was a prophet of God. I cannot follow Jewish theology b/ they do not recognize the Prophet Muhammad
I was Therevada Buddhist before i converted. Buddhism is a beautiful religion and i believe Gautama Buddha lived a wonderful life. However, Therevada Buddhists don't believe in God. The reason i started studying other religions when i was Buddhist was b/ i felt i believed in God.
Something most people don't know is that many hindus believe in on God that came to earth in many forms. While i do believe in one God, i do not believe He has ever had the need to come to earth in human form. This presents me with the same questions as the trinity.
Greek mythology is so interesting to me. i've read many interesting stories from it. However, Greek gods are so similar to humans. They make mistakes and have quarrels. In my view there is only one God and He is perfect.
**I've never felt the need to stand on a soapbox and say "you're wrong... you're wrong" to other religions in order to feel that i'm right. I left Buddhism with the belief that there was one perfect God.... Islam is the only religion that satisfied that belief for me.... and when studying.... i believed everything else i was given.....
Peace and Blessings,
Sakina

I've studied and researched many, and found strange enough(but maybe not strange after all) that the basis behind their savior's or Deity's all have many similarities, and resemble gods that were thought of by men in ancient times. I.E. Hermus, an Egyptian god has incredible similarities to Jesus, and Hermus was celebrated more than 500 years before anyone even mentioned the name Jesus, same with Moses, there was a prophet named Mises who also went to the top of a mountain, to speak to god, several hundred years before the first pages of the Bible were written. The ancient Egyptian "Book of the dead", was written hundreds of years before the Bible, yet the Ten Commandments were directly taken from the book of the dead. Hmmmmmm there is more, just check out this source, which also has source's to back up and validate it's facts.

I am a theist and I have studied all the major religions. I probably know more about other peoples beliefs than the average Christian. And, Christians dislike not being allowed to prove their point without the bible. That is why they report so many people and have accounts closed by Yahoo.

I know about Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism.
Buddha was not God, even by his own admission. His teachings were accepted by his followers and he got a god-like status. But, while I can appreciate his teachings, I don't appreciate his runnign away from home. Also, he is dead and there's nothing more about him. He is the same as Gandhi or Nelson Mandela.
Hinduism has the concept of many dieties, some of them are influenced by nature and aninals. That did not create any impact on me.
Islam, i do understand their concept of a single God. That's about it.

i locate technology backs up greater of the bible than contradicting it. As for the different religions, i've got regarded at them, yet locate they nonetheless lack what Christianity has. certainty. As for questioning my ideals, specific, yet i do no longer question the basics any greater. i've got seen too lots data to understand that God is genuine, Jesus is properly my Savior and that i'm in a protracted term relationship with Him.

I'm a Mormon, and I know that Jehova Witnesses don't have birthdays and that Brahmin Hindus don't eat meat and that Muslims in the middle east (some of them) blow up stuff and that Jews don't believe in Christ and that Sihkists are war people and that Jainists cover their mouths with cloth so that they don't accedentally kill bugs.

I am guessing you are an atheists since you seem to still be of the mindset that only atheists are intelligent...
Having studied religions for my doctorate, I would still not consider myself an expert. Only someone who has a lot to learn would even suggest that they are that "well-versed".
