any indoor/outdoor spray will do, and they have tons of different colors and finishes coming out all the time, some look like sand, some like stone, some are new matte colors coming out. the only thing I think would look tacky is a gloss finish

Rustoleum spray paint, I really like their hammered finish, it's available in various colors and finishes at Lowes/Ace Hardware/Home Depot.

Rustolum brand ,if there going to be out side try using a heat resistant paint,
