take the name of the business,and check through the local office of the chamber of commerce,or the bbb,they can also tell you if they are licensed,its hard to be a dealership and not be licensed these days,good luck on it.

ANY business in the USA has to display their business license in a place visible to customers.
Not all businesses have have their licenses on the wall in the front office, but they have it somewhere and you have the right to see it.
It's sounds silly to ask to see their license, but if you suspect they operate without one, just ask.

go to your states web site and look for licensing. they should have a link that lets you check the status of all licences.
