I am gong into 8th grade too! Only Ive gone to public school my whole life. Public school is fun because youll meet a lot of new people. And you might learn a lot more, but im not sure about that, because i dont know how well you have been taught. It is really fun (sometimes, school isnt always fun), so dont worry!

Well for starters, don't panic. Going to public school isn't that different except that sometimes the rules can be a bit looser and the kids wear whatever they want instead of uniforms. I went to Catholic school for 8 years before I went to public school. I was nervous too, but I got used to it really quick and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Especially the part about wearing my OWN clothes instead of a uniform. That was really cool because I could finally express myself the way i wanted to. Some kids might judge you based on what you wear, but remember, all you have to do is be yourself. If for some reason someone doesn't like who you are, based on what you wear, don't sweat it. Find someone who can appreciate you for you. Good luck and don't be nervous!!!!!

Considering you are possibly walking in a new school year with many individuals that have made a switch or are advancing into a new school within the public system, many if not most of the students will be nervous. Don't sweat it, things will come around in due time.

I am a middle school teacher, for what it's worth.
Be friendly, be social. Do what you want to do and see who is also there doing that stuff.
Introduce yourself, ask questions.
All 8th graders are socially terrified most of the time, and fear makes people do stupid things. Don't write anyone off based on one bad experience. If you realize you've done something stupid, apologize as quickly and well as possible.
Keep your eye on the prize... your social life comes AFTER your academics. Anyone who tells you different is selling something.
Be true to yourself, you will find your level. Look for people who make you feel better about yourself, them, your school, whatever. Anyone who makes you feel worse is someone you don't need in your life.

Don't listen to the other girl.. You'll make friends.
Public school is awesome. You have to wear uniforms in private school right? Yuck! Be free to wear whatever you want.
Just be yourself.. Sure there's mean girls and boys like at any other school. I say they just need to get over their selfs.
Have fun in the 8th grade and enjoy it. Before you know you're going to be an adult and wish you would have. You'll do great in public school.

Don't act full of yourself or you'll be a quick target for harrassment, that's for sure. Be yourself and don't pretend to be someone you aren't, people can see right through you 90% of the time. The rest is just acting normal. If you've been home schooled your whole life it may be a bit tough to get used to, but it isn't too different from a private school.

I would advise you to be open minded and open to diversity. Also, keep in mind that there will be kids there who have no interest in furthering their education and pretty much are there to cause trouble. Don't let that frustrate you or distract you. I went to a very diverse public school in NJ, and faced a lot kids with bad behavior. Just be yourself and you'll find people there you'll connect with. Try getting involved in clubs and activities you like, and that way you'll meet others with the same interests.

poor thing, you are going to have it rough. First off the teachers will prolly think you are spoiled rotten, the other kids will think you either a fruitcake or weirdo...
Just kidding...
Be yourself, be friendly, not overbearing. Make friends and do your work, basically the same things you did in private school, only now you'll probably have more people to chose friends from. It will be what you make of it. enjoy life.

u've never been to a public school?? interesting..lol
well it's pretty much u go to the school and theres tons of people (since u'll b in middle school) and u will get a schedule becuz u have to switch classes every period, and u will have a locker so u'll have to memorize the locker combination. and a lot of ppl in middle school r jerks so u might get made fun of for practically anything, but ignore it, thats the easiest way to get thru that part. anyways u will have time to make friends during lunch and P.E and in free time during classes (if u get any) and b prepared for lots of homework!!!
(btw what school r u going to? maybe i'll get lucky and it'll b my school, im going into 7th grade!!IM me from my answers profile)
GOOD LUCK!!
