Sad to say, there are some who have posted answers who probably won't ever get it. I'm glad he suffers me just a tiny amount of a love that cannot be measured.

Hello Mr. Gilbert. Thank you for the recent 10 points you gave me. I have no desire to be disrespectful to you. But this question my atheistic core cannot ignore. First, you are correct, I cannot comprehend god's "great love for humanity" given what he allows to go on in regards to human suffering and violent atrocities against innocents. And I agree it is indescribable as love, and is more like indifference (assumeing he exists at all, and I don't). You no doubt are referring to how he "so loved the world that he sent his only son to die for our sins" right? Let's think about that for a minute....."god" was angry that his creation broke his rules and was planning to send us all to hell, until he had a great idea....to get a man's young fiance pregnant, just so the "holy" child can grow-up to be slaughtered to pay for us breaking rules. That truly makes no sense. That would be like me sacrificeing my son to appease my own anger over my burnt potroast dinner I made then turned my back on and allowed it to burn. I'm sorry Gilbert, but the "god" of the bible is a cruel and illogical fictional charactor. Please understand how we atheists see things this way.

amen

Oh Love of God
How rich and pure!
How measureless and Strong!
It shall forevermore endure the saints and angel's song

Could we with Ink the Ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the Love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky

Yes, I can comprehend it. He told us very plainly the evidence of his love. His love was shown by giving us Christ to die a horrible death for us. We may not understand how he could have done something like that. We couldn't possibly be in a position where we would have to make a choice like that. But, he explained it us. John 3:16 states that we are given eternal life because Christ gave his physical life for us.

Technically, and respectfully, I do not believe that God "has" love for humanity, but that God is Love. Therefore, wherever love is, God is. So our understanding of God as a "he" is hard for me to wrap my brain around because God is everywhere and personifying that is hard to comprehend.

I do not think we can understand God's Love
It would be like an ant trying to understand us
We know of God and his love, But I do not think We completely understand God's Love
EXP. Does God not make it rain for the good and the wicked?
Maybe soon we will

Nonsense; of course it is describable. Since god is a fiction, the love is identically zero.
