I was discharged from the Navy about 6 years ago. Unfortunately I received a general discharge (under honorable conditions) with an RE-4 reentry code. The narrative reason for separation was misconduct with an HKQ code. After 6 yrs now, I have graduated from college and I am interested in going back to the service. I wanted to join the army national guard and go to officer candidate school. And so, I was wondering if I can do this even though I wasn't honorably discharged from the Navy. I live in San Antonio, TX and any answers from recruiters or any other person with knowledge about this will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it should be no problem. And if they don't allow it for some reason, or some regulation says no, there's a waiver for everything in the national guard! good luck!

Not likely with the RE-4 code, however only a Army National Guard recruiter can answer that question. Why not stop in and ask instead of re-posting this question again?

There is no National Guard OCS. It's just OCS (active, reserve and guard). But when I was in Benning, I constantly saw OCS candidates walking around on pass.

the National Guard is the only Branch that will consider waiving Re-4s on a case by case basis, but depending on exactly what it was for, you may not be offered a Commission.
