Because in most instances, those that drink cause harm to others in some way, whether it be emotional pain, physical harm, or damage to property.

I agree with you to a certain extent. my uncle was an alcoholic for decades and eventually died from cirrhosis when i was 12. So I definitely have witnessed the dangers of alcohol with my own eyes, but that didnt stop me from starting to drink 2 years later. Im 17 now and I still drink. I only need like 3 beers to feel it, and to me, thats not a lot. I hate when others complain about it (like my bf, who hardly drinks) but all my friends and family are the same way as i am: we're all responsible for ourselves, dont try and save everyone around you. If you want to have some beer, do it, but taking shots of vodka each night until you pass out/throw up...THAT SUCKS!

It is probably all the victims of drunk driving car accidents who started the idea that an alcoholic behind the wheel is a bad idea. And notice that the worst have already had a dozen accidents before they finally kill some family - so don't tell me that alcoholics could just stop driving.

sweetie alcoholism is looked down upon because it is a self made diesease and the way some people see it is why when there are already so many dieseases out there that we cant cure would someone want to or chose to create one for themselves.... moreover some people act really different they can be mean violent or for lack of a better word stupid... the way i see it if i werer your friend and you got drunk and turned into a different person i wouldnt like you very much (depending of course) because im not friends with this part of you. y'know?

alcoholic people don't offer anything to the society! they just hang around and do stupid things most times. but the thing is that many of the robberies and abuses that have been done were done by people who wear under the influence of alcohol or other 'stuff'. that is why the society don't judge them well. if u stay home and get drunk that's fine.

The guy who ran down my 13 year old sister (which killed her) was an alcoholic, so that's my reason.

the way i look at it is- if it ain't hurting you, and the person drinking is happy doing it, let 'em be. It may be one of the only things in life they get any pleasure out of.
