The submission to the highest one consoles you spirtually within yourself. It could be visible or invisible but the admission satisfies you. In all the religions, before you submit, you always wash yourself, wear clean dress and quite often cover your head as mark of respect. Mandir, Masjid, Gurdwara so much so you cover your head before going to a graves. It is only mark of respect, leaving your dirty shoes behind which reflects your best cleanliness from outside. Now the stage comes when you actually want to purify yourself within. It only comes when you ask forgiveness for your sins/misdeeds and repent what you have done knowingly or unknowingly. The physical actions include bowing your head fully or halfway through for submission and when you submit you are always forgiven thus you feel light-hearted, it is called prayer.

It is good if you move your lips, otherwise just thinking and saying words accordingly to your faith is enough because He knows(the supreme power) why you are there, what you say and what is your wish. Before us people prayed differently, with different actions to different objects, fire, sun, moon, stars, air, water, mountains; yet believing the supreme spirt having been focused only on one single power hence the submission. It is called prayer. When you pray without indulgence of any worldly thoughts you can undoubtedly purify your mind, this is the basic practice you can act upon.

There are few advancements when you have done so, like climbing on top of a mountains and pray in seclusion as Budha, Moses did, Mohammad went to a cave away from the worldy interferences, Ibrahim took his son on top of a mountain to slaughter his son. To have more purification when we do not feel satisfaction,we go to Kashi,Banaras and sometime reach the source of Ganga on high mountains, we bear sufferings and visit Kabaa,(as Guru Nanak did), Jeroslam, Nazareth, Golden Temple in a hope to purify ourselves. Whether it works or not, we do not know, but one thing is for sure, we always pray at these places. I do not know about others but it works for me and my wishes, if I have, are granted.

Prayer can't. But setting one's mind on the things of the Spirit and meditating on the scriptures can. Asking and trusting God to purify our minds is the only hope. God is the purifer. When His Spirit is in us, That Spirit will automatically cause us to desire purity. We must however put to death the desires of our sinful side or nature as it is in conflict with the HOLY Spirit.

The power of prayer is not the result of the person praying. Rather, the power resides in the God who is being prayed to. 1 John 5:14-15 tells us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him." No matter the person praying, the passion behind the prayer, or the purpose of the prayer - God answers prayers that are in agreement with His will. His answers are not always yes, but are always in our best interest. When our desires line up with His will, we will come to understand that in time. When we pray passionately and purposefully, according to God's will, God responds powerfully!

We cannot access powerful prayer by using "magic formulas." Our prayers being answered is not based on the eloquence of our prayers. We don't have to use certain words or phrases to get God to answer our prayers. In fact, Jesus rebukes those who pray using repetitions, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6:7-8). Prayer is communicating with God. All you have to do is ask God for His help. Psalm 107:28-30 reminds us, "Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven." There is power in prayer!

It won't if you are happy with your sin and wicked ways. If you want to repent and call upon Him to change, purify, and cleanse your thoughts, deeds and actions with those around you then things are different. God wants to have communion with His sons. If you do not want the Holy Spirit to form Christ in you then you take a huge chance of being one of those whom Christ said to "depart from Me you who do lawlessness and iniquity into everlasting punishment prepared for the Devil and his angels." Broad is the way that leads to destruction and MANY there be that go there but narrow is the way of life and FEW there be that go into that gate. See Matt 7 I didn't quote it exactly.

yes, it does. our real and original mind is normally pure and good. in the process of our growth, many things are administered and the mind becomes complex. with this complex mind, some people are able to identify the mistakes they commit and some are not. one who has ability to identify the mistakes he has been committing in life if makes a sincere prayer seeking condoning of such mistakes, he is likely to get relief provided his prayer with devotion. it is obvious, if he is serious in his prayer, he will avoid committing the same mistake again!

God desires our prayers to be natural, enjoyable, honest, heartfelt, unencumbered by rules, regulations, legalism, and obligation.

Prayer ushers spiritual blessings into our natural, everyday lives and brings spiritual power to bear on our earthly circumstances.

Prayer opens the door for God to work. We are His body in the earth today. We need to pray to access the wisdom and the resources of heaven for ourselves and for others.

Pray for your inner life (the condition of your heart, your spiritual growth, your attitudes, and your motives). Pray to be strengthened internally and to live out of a pure heart from the right motives.

Stop following man-made rules to please people, but step out in faith and follow God's Spirit to please Him.
