Depends on HOW late, WHY you will be late IF you like boss and they like you.

Even if you DO send an email, try to follow up with a phoncall around time you SHOULD arrive to make sure they get messagfe and to apologise for short notice given . . .

ALWAYS best to apologise BEFORE bosses think it is needed . . . .

Depends on when your going to send the email. If your sending it the day before start off with I'll be in late for personal reasons or something like that. Please do not send a email if it's the same day. That would be very unprofessional.

First of all the proper etiquette for your job would not be to send an email. You need to call your supervisor. Secondly, just tell him/her the truth of why you are going to be late. That should be sufficient enough. As long as it is a good excuse there shouldn't be a problem..Not calling would be worse. Hope this helps..

Just tell them that you will be late. And you should also let them know exactly why you're going to be late.
