...more so than HOW we got here? Which is truly more important?
I'm not trying to win anyone to evolution because the research isn't finished yet. If anything, I wish people from all opinions would be more open handed about the matter. Science or progress should not be the enemy of Christians. It feels to me that the Creationists who do attempt research are so intent in proving their point, they miss the larger truth and time and time again humiliate themselves. It seems unnecessarily desperate. If you truly believe in God, then relax and just look for the truth, whatever it is.

Thanks to all so far for answering.
"The angels have the phone box.'s", I am very intrigued by what you wrote. If you would be so kind as to elaborate, I will definitely read it.

Excellent point.....
Too many people argue over semantics in the Bible and literal interpretation...while missing the greater truths and lessons to be learned.

Words are incredibly important to Judaism -- they create worlds after all. The first chapters in Genesis are all about naming, G-d speaks the world into existence, Adam names the animals.
So what if these stories are a memory (or perhaps imagining) of a time when something important happened in that region regarding language usage. Some dramatic jump in awareness and intentionality in naming, and in our ability to hurt each other through our words.

I agree. Evolution does not contradict creation. Its much more of a creation if God allows life to evolve over millions of years. The Bible can not be taken literally. It was written by men who did not spiritually understand Gods word. If they did comprehend then Jesus would not have come and taught a different philosophy on how to live ones life. Many believers in God and Jesus do not subscribe to the fundamentalist view or interpretation of the bible.

The 7 day creation story isn't scientific, because there are 2 in Genesis. It is about God, humans, marriage, etc. God bless.

I think that is a very interesting interpretation.
For whoever theorized that Africans would be light colored to "protect them from the heat" is somewhat misinformed on how the skin works. Dark skin has a higher natural SPF if you will which is why desert areas have darker people. The darkness actually protects them from the sun.

EACH creation story is a "who" story, not so much a "how" story.
EACH creation story is the self-story of a particular people, founded in their environment, and expressed in the symbols of their poetic imagination.
The Genesis creation stories (yes, there's more than one) are the self-story of the Hebrew tribes, not all the peoples of the world. They include parts of previous creation stories because of the cultural influence of other peoples.

Creationism holds credence only with those who value a book of poorly interpreted and assembled ancient Hebrew folklore over the frontiers of scientific research.

That's exactly what it's trying to tell us, along with the fact that there is a CREATOR and not an accidental process involved.

Friend as a Christian for over 37 yrs. I have said there is a certain part of evolution, For instance a larva will turn into a butterfly,, & maggots will turn into flies, & eggs will turn into a chicken or bird, but to say we came from apes or a slimmy pond somewhere & evoveld, forget it, Why do we still have apes & slimmy ponds, did those apes & creatures in those ponds forget to evovle.
