If you retire, for the rest of your life. If you get out, 0 days. They end on your last day.

VA benefits remain in force as long as you were not dishonorably discharged and completed at least 180 continuous days of active duty.

Best bet is for any former military member to visit the VA within 30 days of leaving the service to ensure they receive all the benefits. I do not recall which ones, but some expire relatively soon after the enlistment is over if no action is taken. A trip to the VA will ensure it will be there.

Helath, SGLI that stuss expires after active duty. Comissary, PX, tax center, veteranarian, etc are godd until you are finished with your IRR (4 years more, if AD for 4 years), GI bill is good for 10 years form last day of active duty. If you're not out yet, do the "kicker", GI bill top up. It costs an extra $600 ontop of the initial $1200 contribution, but gives you about an extra $200 per month for 36 months while going to school. About a 500% return on that $600 bucks, NICE!!!! If you get VA disability, thats good forever.

SGLI is good for 120 days after the day you get out. During that time you can switch to Veterans GLI, but that's only a good deal if you are under 30, otherwise it cost too much.

Most benefits are life-time. But the GI Bill education benefits expire within ten years. If you have the GI Bill and don't use it within the ten year limit, you lose it.

unless you retire, you lose all privileges at your ETS.

GI Bill is good for ten years after ETS. That's it.
