just tell them that you want to prepare fot the rest of your life, and you dont think playing hockey is going to help you do that, i had to do the same thing with soccer but i was surprised when they were so understanding

You are going to be a senior, and there are EMT classes every year. Is there some reason (other than wanting it all now) that you cannot finish hockey this year and take EMT later?

Heck, maybe you can use this as a bargaining chip- finish hockey and they'll pay for EMT?

Tell them you're going to sign up for the EMT class, hockey is not something that you want to make as your career.

If they cause problems, move out and prove to them that you are responsible and are able to make the correct decisions in life. Eventually they will see that you were right and will respect you for it. But stay true to your EMT dreams.

You tell them and then you stick to your choice. I had to do the same thing in high school. It hurt my dad that I didn't run track my senior year but he eventually got over it and I had a much easier year to prepare for college.

Just say LOOK, this is what I am going to do and let it flow out your mouth....The end

If you ASK you only give them room to have SAY in changing your goals...

If you TELL them, they have no say in changing your goals..
