Well everyone knows that most of the Christian celebrations were adopted and have pagan origins. For example, here are some:
Christians adopted the cruciform from the Egyptians
Swatica from the Hindu
Dying eggs (this was done way before Christianity was born)
So to be specific do you know any other origins of holidays mainly Christian ones and others too?

Halloween is a good one.

It's specifically related to the early church because Nov. 1 is "All Saint's Day" or as it was known back in England at one point, "All Hallows." "Hallow" (not 'hollow') is a way old word for "holy".

They thought it was a very holy day, where the saints who were already in heaven were revered and honored. So they figured that the evil spirits had to lay low on Nov 1, so they came out in droves the day before: All Hallow's Eve, or "Halloween" is what we call it today.

The ghosts and demons and goblins came out to party down then, because Nov. 1st was a day only for the good guys.

You heathens have your celebrations and we wanted to have good celebrations also for our Lord. I agree that we have gone overboard into the colored eggs, easter baskets, rabbits, Santa Claus, reindeer, decorated tree.

We need more manger scenes, crosses, worship music for Christmas and food baskets for the poor and needy. Instead of spending money on gifts we should be buying for the poor and needy. Helping the widows and orphans. So many women are raising children by themselves and could use help throughout the year. Welfare helps them barely to get by.

I assume this is a dagger thrown at us Christians........

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus' birth....
Easter is the celebration of His resurrection....

The origin of these things are not what matter.....what matters is what they mean to me today.
