Because I am always moving, I sleep in my grandmother's old Girl Scout sleeping bag. The zipper came off the tracks a few weeks ago and I don't know what to do. Is my sleeping bag fixable and if so, where do I take it?

I would suggest calling around to different seamstresses or tailors if you are unable to get the zipper back on track. They should be able to help. You can also search for specialty outdoor stores. Some of them have repair shops that can put a new zipper on if necessary. Just get the phone book and start calling, ask if they can help or if they know of anyone who can.

Hope this helps! :-)

Hello:

If the teeth are still good, you can buy a replacement pull at a sewing store like Joanne fabrics, or Hobby Lobby. If the teeth are worn out, you will need to get a new zipper. If you have someone else do it, it will cost more than a new sleeping bag. If you do it yourself, it will take a lot of stitching, but it can be done.

It may come down to just buying another bag...you might find a used one at Goodwill.

Most dry cleaners have a seamstress on staff that will replace the zipper for you. Sometimes it's cheaper to just get another sleeping bag, though.
